I just got back from a local shop to inquire about tire size, offsets and so forth. I told him that I was interested in volk GTC 19"/10.5 to use with 295's. He called his supplier buddy out in Cali to see on GTC's availibitly and tire combination. His budd claims that I'll only be able to use 285/30/19 for the 10.5 without rolling the fenders. He states he does not approve of fender rolling as cutting (rolling) the inner edges deteriorates the shape of the fender. He claims that he doesn't know of anyone in our local area (south jersy/ Phila) who does this b/c of this reason.
my quest: is this true as the fronts are already done this way. Also, should I press to look for a fender roller to push for 295/35/19 or greater or just settle for 285/30/19 and just be overly cautious with road imperfections

sorry for bringing up an old thread..
but here are the current specs for my wheel/tire set up
Volk CE28N, 19x8.5 front, 19x9.5 rear
currently running Yokohama AVS Sport tires 265/30/19 front, with 295/35/19 rear..
All stock suspension and I do not intend on lowering or modifying the suspension in any way.
I bought the wheels that came with these brand new tires, so i didn't complain about the sizing, which may or may not be the right and ideal set up.
I'm currently in the market for new tires and would like this boards opinion on the set up I have chosen.
I'm looking on running 265/35/19 front and 295/35/19 in the rear... could I possibly run a 305/ tire in the rear? Anyone have an opinion on a better tire size reco? I'm looking to run the widest thickest tires possible.
I do not know much about tires nor how that affects oversteer understeer..but like i said I would like to run the thickest widest tires possible while still maintaining a balanced and fully functional vehicle ( i do not want ABS/traction etc. issues)
thanks!

I just got the tires today. They fit pretty well although after I install the coilovers it looks like I may have to cut the rear fenders. The front fenders look like they probably won't need to be rolled or cut.

^^Roll your fender Gman, should be no more than $100, I just did a G coupe here in MD that was running 295/35 on a +22 10.5" rim...
I have my fenders rolled, and currently run 285/35 19 on a 19 X 10.5" +22 with NO issues (and I just raised my car some) I was gonna do 305/30 19 but tirerack will not let me test drive the tire, only mount them and put it on the car-which is no test. Im afraid it will rub, so I'll likely only do a 295/35 on my next set-up. I remember seeing many tires in those sizes after searching tirerack and discounttire I can only find KDW2's...

For those looking for balance, ie much less understeer from staggered setups and a suspension drop, I would suggest the following.
-Set your rear camber to around 1' degree and leave the front around 1.5-2' degrees. (I have the SPC camber kit)
-If you have sways, set the front to soft and rear to medium, or set the front to medium and rear to firm. (I went with Hotchkis)
-If your going to to get downsprings, get a set with a higher compression setting in rear vs front. (I went with RS*Rs downsprings)
The suggestion above will force the front tires to bite harder and with more authority. You'll get more life out of your rear tires, plus better traction off the line!
This is what my Z currently looks like, you can see that there is more camber in front than rear.
