Default Any way to shut off the tire pressure warning beep?

I had performance nissan mount the new rear tires on the powdercoated rims they sent me WITHOUT the TPS in them and now its always beeping...I was gonna put them back in on my next set of rear tires. Is there any way to shut off that annoying beeping sound that goes off when i start my car and every so often while driving?

Pull the cable from the TPS reciever - under passenger dash - right above where the passenger feet would be.
Reboot ECU

Better yet remove TPS reciever and antenna and send it to me..

Actually the service manual (CD) has copious notes on the TPS

That brings up an interesting question. Every once in awhile, my TPS will malfunction and not get a signal. In other words, if I bring up the tire pressure window on the multi-function gauge pod, it reads: _ _ _ _ on one tire and say 34 on the other. Also, on occasion, the tire pressure warning light on the dash will come on. I get no beep however.

If you get aftermarket wheels/tires and don't have the TPS in them, will your warning light for the dash always be on? Will pulling this cable turn it off?

Thanks

i have aftermarket rims without the sensors in them. my dash gauge reads ---- on all tires. i hear no audible warnings at all and my light in the dash only comes on after driving about 45 minutes. i dont know why it behaves this way, but i can deal with it.

You have to buy the Service Manual or find some place online to download it. It doesn't come with the car.

So everyone without the TPS in their aftermarket wheels has to deal with the little yellow light on their dash after 45 minutes of driving?

This is an OUTRAGE!!!! j/k

But seriously, does everyone else with this setup get the same thing?

bonz,
i unpluged my tps reciever after putting aftermarket wheels on. you still get the light, but no audible warning, and your pressure reads nothing. its no big deal to me.

Hello Doctor

Do these TPS transmitters have batteries?

Good question. I have no idea. I would guess that they would have to have them right? I mean, they aren't wired in any way are they?

Amy & Dr Bonz,
TPS has permanently installed batteries. They are activated by a centrifugal switch that closes when you drive faster than about 30-35 mph. The TPS manufacturer says that the battery "under normal driving conditions" (whatever THAT means!) will last 7 years. New TPS sensors must then be purchased when batteries die - hence warning light indicating system failure! [YIKES!!!]
Without TPS sensors installed, your onboard TPMS receiver measures no signal received and hence displays the "---" on the display. After a period of constant "---", the 'annoying' yellow warning icon lights up in the gage pod. Hey guys! There's a market for a new 350Z product: I can go to Office Depot and buy a package of Avery black, self adhesive little round dots. Market them for $3.50 (get it?! ) apiece on the vendor board as a cure for the dreaded YELLOW TIRE ICON LIGHT! Apply sticker directly over gage display when lit.....
What do you guys think?
