Default Opinions Wanted On Toyo T1S!

I have two Qustions Guys.

1.Those of you running Toyo T1S, How do you like them (wear ,traction, Etc,)

2.Will a 245/45/17 front and 255/45/17 rear combination fit well on the stock enthusiast 7.5" front and 8.0" rear rims?

My only complaint was road noise, but I had 19's. The sidewall isn't as rigid as some other tires but good overall. Wear was very good also.

much qiueter and smoother riding than the stock bridgestones. On the car for a year now, with around 21k miles so far - fronts are perfect, rear are now down to the wear bars but I am also running ~3 degrees of camber out back

I hated them at first... they have a TERRIBLE feel during break-in.

However after one 20 min lapping session, and a few weeks of daily driving... they set-in and feel great!

I will considering them again.

The tire sizes you mention are TOO LARGE for the 17" rims. The T1-S is a very good dry performance tire and I did not find the tire roar or wear to be extreme.

Ah good point... didn't even think of that.

245 is way too wide for a 7.5" wheel!

If you go to Toyo's tire recomender, it will recommend these sizes for +0 fitments. The problem is the 245/45/17 will fit on a 7.5-9 inch rim and the 255/45/17 will fit on an 8-9.5 inch rim. The stock rims are 7.5 in the front and 8 in the rear. They meet the minimum rim requirements but that's it. What would be the negative aspects of putting these tires on the rims? I think if toyo recommends them they will work, but I don't know how well.

Hmm. For the price, these tires are good enough, but not great IMO. The road noise sounds even worse than already loud stock RE040, and wet traction seems to be also worse than stock tires. They have decent grip, but I'm not sure if it's an improvement from stock due to its increased size. (245/275 front/rear) But most of all, the soft sidewall just ruins the handling feeling of the car in aggressive cornering. It surely is light, but I think that's it.

I wanna try some other tires for the next set. Michelin PS2 maybe?

I didn't realize the roar was so bad....certainly no worse than stock. Are the Michelins that much quieter?

The T1-S tires are pretty darn nice. I'd wait for the T1-R's that come out next year though. Or the new Falkens or the new Yoko's. Ah, so many tires next year.

huh...road noise worse than stock? Not sure about your cars but every single Z we have fitted these to were met with the same reaction: Wow, my car is SO much quieter with these tires and rides so much better! This was true on 18's and 19's, compared to the Bridgestones in 17 and 18 inch. I've also had my own car in snow and very heavy rain and they dwarfed the factory tire.

Very true (Just went from S03 to T1S). Z lost it's flat cornering that inspired confidence.

I'm on my third wheel/tire combo. My 19" DTM wheels with the T1S was by far the loudest combo yet. Maybe the wheels had a little to do with it. Do you roll the 18" Work wheels? Maybe wheel diameter contributes.

Yes I have 18 inch Works on my car and tire noise vs stock is night and day....the Toyo's are fantastic

Make sure you guys run these with relatively high pressures (36-38 psi keeps them very happy)

So far i like them. They aren't as stiff as the so3 they replaced but still nice tires. They tend to run a little narrow as well so keep that in mind.

I love my tires I will buy them again. And Adam thanks for the tip on the air pressure. No one could tell me the correct pressure. I was close running 35 lbs. I think ill run 38 lbs. since I dont use my steering wheel to turn corners anymore!
If you like drifting now and then these are perfect.
