Default Rays vs. Muteki Lugnuts (pics & weights)

I've been running Ray's short duraluminum lugnuts for quite awhile now. Just got in a brand new set of Muteki neo-chro open ended lugnuts.

The front disk of most wheels for Z's/G's are larger (thicker) than the rear, to accommodate BBK's. This causes equal length lugnuts to be flush or sunken-in on front wheels, and stick out alot on rear wheels. Look at the pics, and you'll see what I mean.

To even it out, I'm running a mixed setup of SR48 and SR35 lugnuts. The longer 48mm lugs are up front, and the shorter 35mm lugs are out back.

Threw the lugs on a postal scale, so it should be fairly accurate.

Ray's short is around 0.8 oz.

They also strip easier. I could take a sh*t and get the same weight savings.

so what is the general consensus? are the rays nuts worth the
extra money-are they better quality? will the threads last longer and
hold up to frequent removal?

i am curious because i have been looking at muteki and rays nuts
lately

I just got my neo chroms and I love them, I think 2 full Ounces is worth the pure sex of these lugs

You're welcome. Not vital info, but interesting, nonetheless.

I was swapping lugs anyways, so why not snap a couple pics? Took me < 15min. with an electric impact wrench.

At first I was hesitant to get them, but having seen the Mutekis and Project KICS lugs in person, I think they both look great. Can't go wrong either way, as far as looks. Oh, and for 1/2 the price, whether you're talking retail or sponsor pricing....well...why not?

Depending on which length you get, you're looking at a diff of around 3.0-5.5 oz. per corner. Since the lugs are so close to the center of the hub, you won't feel that difference at all. If you get aluminum lugs from Rays, Work, etc...it's strictly for the look/cachet not for any b.s. performance claims. I've had 3 sets of Rays lugs in different colors up until now, so don't get me wrong...I like them too.

Did your impact wrench scratch the neo chrome lug nuts? Do the neo chrome color hold up well so far?

do you like these because the outside splines hold up well, or because the
inside threads that meet the studs?

i would like to replace my lug nuts because i bought a set of wheels i
use for track days and take them on and off at least once a month
and am worried about fatigue/reliability of the ones i have now
(cheap *** lugs that came with the wheels from edgeracing-look like
a dollar each style from napa)

my oem lugs are too big for my track day wheels and they are starting
to get worn too and may have to replace them soon as well
