Hi Everyone, Brand new to the forum. Got a Southern z and the clearcoat finish is shot on all of the upper surfaces. I'm trying to decide what to do about it. The rest of the car is OK, but refinish, sand and spray flat black, or maybe a wrap of the hood and top part of trunk or ?????? On a tight budget, so saving bucks but getting a good look is important. Help Please

 

If the base color is good. You can sand the damaged clear without sanding through and spray maybe 2 coats of clear and call it a day.

 

What I would totally recommend if you do this is purchase a quality clear. Dont cheap on clear.

I had an aftermarket fiberglass bumper that cracked over the years and needed reinforcement/repair. I used Rust-Oleum Satin Black/Semi-Gloss, added wet-look hardener, thinned with acetone about 60/40 paint to acetone and sprayed with a $25 1.8mm tip siphon feed sprayer
You can't get any cheaper than this.
I
