Check the fuses and relays that control the fuel delivery system. I'm betting the problem is there since your car simply died on the road like you said. After you get it running, make sure you don't have any shorts to ground on those circuits, or else you just keep blowing fuses.
Also, there's a maintenance forum for issues like yours. Post there first next time and you'll get more useful answers.

So its turning over but not starting now? Needs spark air and fuel its odd for a fuel pump to fail while your driving, it happens but its more common that it fails to work when you go to start the car...
Anyways if its turning over but not starting...
Checking all the fuses and relays is a good place to start... Are there any major modifications that would cause the problem? Alarm system? Crazy stereo set-up? Etc?
You could disconnect the intake hose from the throttle body and spray a little carb and choke cleaner in their, reconnect and see if it starts for a second. If it starts you know its not getting fuel.
Is your gauge working? 350z gas gauge isn't all that great could be out of gas.. (start with the low hanging fruit)

Word that. My tanks were reading past empty the other day (I was running a can of Lucas treatment through the system) and when I went to fill it, I realized I still had 6 gallons of fuel left. I'm considering going through the hassle of installing new senders (I'm cheap though, I'll probably check the resistance readings first, which means I'm going to have to drive around with all my amps taken out of the subwoofer cubby before I make the purchase). It's no-win with those bloody things.
