My daughter bought a used 2005 350Z Coupe that originally had the Bose system. The head unit has been replaced with a Kenwood single DIN. The sub wasn't working and upon pulling the plastic cover off, it became apparent why. There was no sub, no amp, no mounting bracket, and the wiring to the sub amp had been cut vs. just disconnecting it. The area where the sub used to be had become a nice home for a mouse at some point. It has now been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. (A fresh dead mouse was also found in the heater blower motor, that's been cleaned and scrubbed as well)
In any case, my question is if I wanted to mount a powered sub on the floor in that area, are there any critical components, wires, etc that I might puncture with short mounting screws? It looks like the fuel pump access is right there, but I don't know if it's right up against the bottom of that panel or not. Thanks for any input. Also, sorry for huge pictures instead of thumbnail size...I guess I don't know how to upload pictures correctly.

Reason: large pics apology
I personally have a small amp in there and a small sealed box holding a slim 10" woofer.
Nothing is secured.
It's just kinda shoved in there and I don't hear to move.
I actually secured a small JL 5 channel amp in the glovebox location that sits above the fuel pump basket. It's on the passenger side though. Are your photos on the driver's side? Mine didn't have factory bose, so just curious. To answer your question directly, yes, I believe you can mount to that surface, but be very careful drilling anything as the fuel tank sits there. Pop that cover off and double check your clearance first.
I would NOT put any self-tapper screws into the floor pan. Your fuel tank is right beneath there, very high risk of puncturing the gas tank. Your best option is to use the ceiling, front, or side sheet metal of that compartment for securing an amp or sub. The cover plate there is for a secondary fuel level sender, the fuel pump is on the passenger side.
Do you still have the factory 10" sub mounting plate?
A lot of people add a 2nd glove box there instead (which is what I did). Others turn the spare tire well in the trunk into a subwoofer mount location.
Dealing with rodents in cars is always shitty. Hope none of the wires were chewed up.
I installed a powered sub in the cubby space by cutting a 1/2" MDF board to fit as snugly between the back wall and front lip. (Board just wide enough to fit it back in.) Took out the board after fitting it, mounted sub to the board then finagled it all back in as a now-single-unit. It was rather a pain to get back in but once in, all good, no movement or rattling (likely thanks to the Dynamat (well, some copy stuff) that helped to snug fit the assembly.
Oh, needless to say, I pre-wired it with power, ground, and RCA cables then zipped them out of the way for the amp re-install.
My main concern was lack of airflow to keep things cool so for most of the time, I left the cubby lid off. Removed it all before selling the car (to recycle into another project.) I kinda wish I'd kept the board but while cleaning my garage, chucked it out. But easily duplicable with measurements and my table saw,

Don't think so, this was the very first thing I did to my '03, well before I joined any forums. Reminds me.... May have pics somewhere but my now deadish (not gotten around to getting it up and running), unbacked up hard drive that has lots of stuff on it is unaccessible. After I restore it, will look for pics at some point if I ever remember. Wasn't the most elegant install but it worked.
