350zhr vs 370z acceleration

All things being equal, logic says the 370 "should" humiliate the 350...BUT--there's that "but" again!--like samjcg said, the drivers' abilities could make a difference. I'm inclined to believe that the 370, being lighter & having more hp/torque would be the winner. At any rate, it's like a young dude defeating his older brother. NO PROBLEMO: Nissan lovers should'nt mind it either way!
Arnold nailed it. I guess all the Nissan press BS still has people fooled. I love the 370z but it is the heavier of the two cars. If you guys are going to be bench racing at least get the facts right between to the two cars.
Most 350 owners that care about this have modified cars as well. I don't think there is as much aftermarket support for the 370 yet. A modified Z with light weight reduction could give it a run in stock form... but where's the fairness in that?
There is actually quite a bit of aftermarket for the 370Z. And to top it all off, the VQ37 is extremely responsive to mods, making it the much, much better N/A motor. Although the VQ35HR responds well to mods too, as evidenced by the numerous 300WHP+ guys we have here with just the basic bolt-ons.

HR nuthugger here
:
Decent gains can be had with HR bolt-ons. I am running 296 whp and 260 wtq with no tune.
But I have to say all you guys getting hung up on HP have the Z all wrong. In particular, it's the increased handling that has me jumping HR ship to get a 370 - that and the syncroRev match. I don't think there's a significant increase in acceleration. Someone's gonna get a deal on my HR - resale has tanked
My stock HR baseline run:

My HR with Injen CAI, Stillen HFC and Bassani exhaust:

C&D weighed an actual base model car to see if Nissan was telling the truth or not, and they were not. It actually weighed 3350. That is heavy!
you guys need to get together and make better excuses. this guy who actually had his car before and after dyno's claims the same type of gain in his 350 through mods as a 370z that sharif just recently dyno'd with exhaust and hfc's, around 30whp. now your claiming that the 370 is just a monster with n/a mods compared to the 350hr. so which one is it?
get your crap straight VQ35HR nutthuggers and make sure you fellas are on the same fkn page cause your excuses are getting more and more lame the further you bs about this crap. snap out of your dreams and realize that the 370z is a superior car.

The Z got heavier through the variations as a Z33 from 03-08. Each gen. getting progressively heavier. The 370Z reverses this and goes back to a weight that is similar to the 03's/04's
The 370z ecu seems better equipped to deal with intake/exhaust mods without tuning vs the 350z. Not sure it it's down a more finicky ecu in the previous Z's, or perhaps it's due to the variable lift that the 3.7's have, or perhaps its a combo of things. If you compare the net gains from intake/exhaust and a tune on a 350z (of any year) vs the 370Z sans tune, they are in the same ballpark. Difference being the 370 starts with a higher net hp engine in the first place, so the final figure ends up higher as well. Would love to feel a 370Z with some test pipes, exhaust and 4.08 gears - would be a very very quick street car without having to get all crazy.

My NISMO weighed at the track 3324lb. The 370z weighed by C&D base model 3350.
Also the HR 350Z gained a substantial amount from just mods. Either the engine wants to flow more than what Nissan is allowing or the intake and exhaust on the cars is very restrictive. Since my car gained so much from just HFCs and tune that I think the car just loves mods.
