350zhr vs 370z acceleration
i just don't understand why you guys think nissan would make a inferior car for a new model? what makes u guys think that your 350z can really outperform a 370z? u guys are reading too much into these magazine times. stop being so insecure about your Z. I love my 350z and I have better things to do than to just sit here and try to convince all of you that my Z is faster or equal to a 370z. The 370z is nice and no it's not a huuuuge difference in performance, but thats what makes the 350z such a great car because it can still hold it's on against cars with more power. If a 370z was the same price as a 350z today for a new owner than I think anybody that has half a brain would buy the 370. Would i trade my 350 for a 370 and pay the extra cash.........no, but the 370z is the superior car. stop the bickering stop the hating and please stop posting all these stupid weights and 1/4 mile times that random people made. If GOD raced both cars bone stock(being the expert that he is) im sure the 370 would win. close thread
This is a thread that will end up causing more problems than anything else.
But since it's here, I will put in my two cents.
I have now driven a 6 speed 370Z, which happened to be yellow.
My impressions were that the 370Z handles better, brakes better, shifts better with the Synchro Rev Match, and accelerates better than mine did when it was stock by a little bit. I still estimate the difference to be about 2/10ths+ better, and up to 2+ mph faster on the trap.
Now only a track will confirm this, but keep in mind that I am talking about stock versus stock with similar miles.
My HR has gotten noticably faster with miles, over 54K now, and it feels a little quicker than the stock 370Z I drove, but my HR did not feel quite as quick when it was new. The 370Z will also get stronger with miles though, so I expect to see quicker times with VERY good driving during excellent conditions.
The 370Z feels pretty close, with only break in miles, to my HR with 54K, but still just a little bit slower. If the 370Z had 54K miles, I am sure it would feel noticably faster, as mine does now, compared to when it had low miles.
If someone wants to let me drive their 370Z at the track, I am sure I can post better numbers than I could with my HR, with similar miles and conditions, by at least a couple of tenths.
That said, I love my HR, and it is still a very attractive excellent handling, and fast Z, so I won't be trading anytime soon. The 370Z is, overall, a better car though, especially in the interior and handling department. Yes, it is a little bit faster too. I still wish it had put out a little more power though. The HR is definitely underrated though. I plan on taking mine to the dyno soon so I can see how close mine is to the same output, stock, versus another local HR that put down 290 rwhp.

) 290rwhp from an HR...that's impressive!
Exactly. I was responding the the guy above that said Nissan wouldn't come out with a newer slower model car over a older one. They did, and it wouldn't be a first time.
But in reality, I still think in looks and performance the 300zx TT still to this day out does any Z to date. The 350Z HR and the 370z are the only two that possibly have beaten the 300ZX TT in 1/4 times now.

If you can't answer this question without any bias there isn't any point to debate with you over anything related to your Z.
You still didn't answer my question; if you swapped a VQ37VHR motor into your car, with a shorter final drive ratio of 3.69, would your car be faster or slower given the same weight? Keep in mind the new drag coefficient is most likely lower than your nismo with its wing and what not... but lets not get picky and just factor in the gears and motor. Let's hope you understand independent and dependent variables.

wow.... you are truely smoking some good Sh*t.... 300zx was garbage. not to mention a COMPLETE headache to work on. Stock for stock whether on paper or on the concrete the 370Z walks away from the 350Z and the 300zx would not even compete. Solo...... man please stop hating... I would love to be able to afford a 370Z but you dont see me hating on it acting like its all inferior..... Find someone local to you and then get someone to video tape you racing him and getting waxxed. Then you can watch it over and over again and wonder how it happend?

It maybe a headache to work on, but it was far from garbage. The 300ZX TT is a fast car. It beats all the 350Z's till the HR came out which is about the same as the TT was in speed.
You really need to do some research.

I've seen that top gear video long ago, but things should be kept in perspective. The 300ZX TT cost over $40K back in mid-90s. When the 350Z was introduced, keeping the price down and the target audience in mind was focus point. Combine that with increased safety standards which increases weight and poof....a slower car.
The 350z vs 370Z is a different type of comparison. Similar weight with more power....how can the 370Z not be faster.
