Default Just bought Pioneer AVH-P4400BH, anyone confirm PAC steering control unit?

Just picked up an AVH-P4400BH off amazon and really want to have the steering wheel controls working.

From searching i have seen people getting the PAC SWI-PS to work with last years model the AVH-P4300....

Can anyone with an AVH-P4400BH confirm they got the PAC unit working with their steering wheel controls? If so what PAC unit was it, they list the SWI-PS and SWI-RC to work with pioneer head units.

Thanks!

Ian S.

Did you have the BOSE system or the GOOD system?

I have the bose and just installed the same head unit in my 06, but I used the Axxess steering wheel control unit, it worked perfectly. Maybe something to look into if you haven't already purchased the PAC one.

Was programming required? Looks to be half the price of the PAC unit Anymore details?

I'm actually a base model 07 that I installed the cruise control / stereo control buttons into the steering wheel and got cruise working. Now I want the stereo controls to function as well.

I know the steering wheel control wlines do run to the back of the non-Bose head unit.

I used the Axxess on a Pioneer AVIC Z130BT in a Bose equipped 05 Nissan Pathfinder. Should not be any different from the Z. No programming was required. Just a button to hold down for some seconds. Works perfectly

Installation of the Axxess is very easy. Clear instructions on exactly which connector and which wires to tap. Can't go wrong

+1 on the Metra Axxess. Works great, simple programming and it's universal if you wanted to switch headunits.

Well Ive been able to order all the mounting hardware and axxess control unit thru amazon.

My head unit they an amazon seller just got cancelled bc they didn't have it in stock. Went to another amazon seller that was a prime seller.

Paid $453 for the unit with 1 day shipping. Hopefully it actually ships.

Basically what everyone else said, no programming required, it fit perfectly under the white box for the temperatures controls, was pretty easy to install =]

Good luck getting your head unit to ship, I absolutely love mine so far!

Have any of you with the similar pioneer models hooked up a USB flash drive or usb hard drive to it?

I would like to have a few 64GB flash drives to hold all my music or i can buy an ipod classic 160GB. I'm not a fan of apple, nore do i want to spend $200+ on an mp3 player that i could get alot more capacity for the money with flash drives.

From the few reviews i've seen the usb flash drive browsing is not nearly as good or fast as the ipod so i'd love to have some first hand experience.

Ive only used a usb driver to load pictures onto the unit, so I didnt really play around with how it works too much. I have an iphone so its just super easy for me to use the ipod feature, which works really really well I might add.

Well I just snagged a 160 gb ipod classic off craigslist for $50 in good working condition. I'll post my review/comparison here when I get it all done.

Got the majority of the wiring harnesses put together.

Radio to Car, Radio to parking video bypass relay, Radio to Axxess ASWC steering control unit.

Gonna put it all in tomorrow after work, only need to crimp the the bypass relay power and antennae amp wire (in car) to the Amp signal wire, 2 Axxess wires, and finalize grounding location.

Anyone installed their Mic for bluetooth: Where did you place the Mic?
