Default Nice Stereo Setup

Hey I was thinking about changing my stereo and speakers and wanted to know what worked well. I'm not looking for anything too expensive and big, I just want something that sounds better than the stock unit but isn't complete crap.

If only there was some sort of function on this site which allowed you to find previously posted info like this, or maybe even a specific section where all those posts might be . . .

Oh well, guess you'll just have to be the first to solve this vexxing problem on a car that's been around for a mere 12 years.

It's not even the spoon-feeding, although that's part of it. The OP may not even know whwt he wants, or what the alternatives are. So by searching and seeing other installs, he'll actually be able to make a better, informed choice about what he can afford and have the skills to install. How can we guess what he wants. likes, can afford, etc.?

expensive is relative and subjective

$1000 for a system for some is expensive
for others it does not cover the head unit

at least make the spoon feed easier

budget / goals / needs

just a thought

Do your own cheap HU, wire up and make a custom box to mount where stock Bose speaker goes.

I have a set-up very similar to this and it sounds great. It boggles my mind why people pay so much for audio equipment

Run the 2channel amp for the speakers(will only allow for fade F/R) right back to the trunk where the stock amp is and just disconnect that amp completely. Wiring diagrams are online for this
