Exclamation **** 4.083 Gears/Final Drive Installed****

Let me first say.... This is by far the BEST mod i have done to my NA car...

You turbo guys will understand ( remember the chills that went up your back when you first drove your FI car?? ) Thats me

First, 2nd and third gears are amazing. The car pulls sooo much harder now. I cant wait to get it to the track rental next friday. I have my ECU reflashed to the 7200 Rpm Redline.

Here is a break down of the STOCK gear ratio's

1st Gear Ratio: 3.794:1
2nd Gear Ratio: 2.324:1

5th Gear Ratio: 1.000:1
6th Gear Ratio: 0.794:1
-Reverse Ratio: 3.446:1

This is calculated using 255/45/17 Tires

Update on the Gears..

Put over 200 highway miles on the car this past weekend and was able to average 29 mile to the gallon. Not bad at all. I would of thought the 4.083 gears would have really killed my gas tank.

Also, driving around town I am able to average around 22mpg. If I drive it like i stole it, then its around 18mpg.

10-13-07

Updated the Main post with my new time from the track.. Ran a personal best of 13.064@105.50mph.

These gears are proving to be a nice addition.

Sure can:

Stock 3.538, 7500 rpm shifts:
1st............... 44mph
2nd.............. 72mph
3rd............... 103mph
4th............... 132mph
5th............... 168mph
6th............... 211mph

4.083 gears, 7500 rpm shifts:
1st............... 38mph
2nd.............. 62mph
3rd............... 89mph
4th............... 114mph
5th............... 145mph
6th............... 183mph

I was the first 07 with 4.083 gears and recommended them to aceman when he asked me about them. As far as the 07 perspective... if you are n/a it really LOVES this gearing, especially with the new redline. 1st through 4th pull so much friggin' harder.

Instead of shifting to 4th almost the instant I cross the finish line in the 1/4, I'm shifting into 4th right at or instantly after the 1/8th now (I only made one pass, it wasn't an impressive time since I left the line from almost idle due to clutch issues).

Nice mod for drag racing. If you are at redline before the finish line, you may want to backoff the throttle instead if shifting.

what about road racing, whats your thought on that. Im thinking for turns where u need accelaration it may play a nice role. I was underneath the impression that the 3.9 gears where the best overall. Never herd of these final drive gears.

Nice mod. I really want to do this as well. I wonder if it's worth it though. I have a few questions and maybe you can help.

1. Does it just feel like it pulls harder or will you actually gain something noticable in the 1/4?

2. Do you lose any low end tq or does it feel like you gained?

3. Any drawbacks you see with this so far?

4. How much did you just get the final drive by itself without install?

5. Is your traction worse?

Thanks.

Its primarily a drag racing mod. Racers want to cross the finish line at the top of some gear. If you cut it too close, you end up at redline before the finish line necessitating another shift.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

3. Any drawbacks you see with this so far? Nope, whole new car again.. Love it.

4. How much did you just get the final drive by itself without install? $430.00

5. Is your traction worse? Yes, traction is alot worse. If you are rolling in first and stomp on it, tires are roasting.

Thanks.

That is one of the reasons..

The other reason is to take better advantage of your powerband.

Well I wouldn't say it was worth the wait, but $150 .... that's a very reasonable price.
