4.08 FD would be insane on my non-revup, non-reflash ... lol

I still remember test driving the 350Z and thinking, WOW the gears are super short.

Congrats on this mod...sounds like fun

If he's on the stock tires/wheels he'll probably make it to 113-114 in 4th in his 07.

My stock tire was 26.5" IIRC (26.8" now), a 26" slick will make each gear slightly shorter. Also, Ive tried this with 2 diff calculators and in real life they are always 1-2mph lower than calculated when tested FYI

yea , i myself was a little confused about the optimum gearing for a road race type app, seems to me that for a revup i guess the 3.9fd is the only route. The revup should be able to be reflashed to spin at 7.5 but only 100more rpm with the technosquare while the old DE gets a serious bump doesnt make sense to me. But these gears do look awesome on the HR because of the higher rev. Im still trying to understand why the revup isnt being flashed to 7.5k. lol good thread though. This might be the gearing thread lol

The revup can be reflashed to 7.5k.. Contact Technosquare...

Your talking about the gearing for a road race or the drag strip?

At the drag strip, you want to keep from changing to the next gear before you cross the 1/4 mile mark. If you have to change gears right before you hit this mark, then your gears are to short. A way around this is to change your tire size ( I might have to do this ) go with a taller tire.

By changing your tire size or rim size your also changing your final drive. Thats why people who throw big heavy 20inch rims dont do aswell at the track. Smaller tire spins faster with more rotations a second then a larger one.

Thumbs up

So I checked out the size of my Slicks and they are 26 inches. This so happens to work out to be the same size as my current tires.

255/45/17 = 26 inch slicks

1 more day and we should have some results.
