Default 06 shift console in 05 car

I m upgrading the shift console in my 05 convertible automatic transmission equipped car to an 06 shift console and center console. I received the Shift console and its for a manual transmission. My question is will it be compatible with my automatic transmission car?

Did you also get the white box that goes behind the HVAC *****?

Two tricky parts to your question. Nissan did an interior upgrade as part of the mid-model refresh of the Z33 in '06. If the center console came from an early '06 Z, it should fit your '05, if not the waterfall IP will not be compatable. You should be able to see this for yourself.

The second part is whether you can adapt the shift console from a MT to an AT. Since the MT has a shifter boot vs. the AT shifter mechanism, I doubt this will be successful. On the other hand, I have never heard of anybody trying such a swap!

Since I already know you got the parts off of a Nismo 350Z (correct me if wrong) I don't think the shifter surround will work, plus the location of the hazard button in the manual surround weird for the auto. Just buy a new piece and hazard switch, should not be too expensive and you can sell the manual piece.

I have an 06+ center console on its way, so the shift console will fit on it. Im curious how the automatic trans is going to work on the manual console. other than the hazard warning, I'm not sure if there is any difference

There is a reason I said they are not the same (they are not) the auto shifter surround is taller than the manual, that is the only different part in the setup.

I got the 06 plus center console, 06 + automatic transmission shift bezel with climate controls and white box, and 06 + waterfall. The waterfall is in and the console is in but I am having difficulty installing the automatic transmission shift bezel. any suggestions?

I tried to do (nearly) the same thing, but on purpose. I bought the manual shift bezel for my 06 auto vert to give it a classier look, and (since my car was an 06) the hazard light wasn't an issue. The trouble was, the shifter assembly for the auto transmission is pretty tall, even when you remove the indicator plate, and the trim for the m/t bezel actually sinks down a bit, so the those two pieces collide. I've been debating whether to try *irreversibly* modding my car to make the pieces fit, like this:

Anyhow, I think that's probably the only way it would work, but I'm not sure how you'd tackle the hazard button issue :P

I tried shifting the stick back. Ive remove the gear indicator cover. I still don't have room to get the console on.

What in Gods name do you have going on? You need to change the waterfall panel, radio and side panels in order to fit everything. The older waterfall has a different slant/shape to it.

Waterfall panel, center console, and shift console are from 06+. Radio and side panels are my original 05 bits. I clearly need to change the side panels, but the radio has to be changed too?

I don't remember who said it, but I'm almost sure I read 06+/earlier stereos aren't interchangeable. Try taking yours out and fitting the bezel

Yes, you need the entire setup...you can't intermix parts, from looking at the pic you still need the radio, radio brackets, side knee panels, and I think the nav controller. Again, nothing can be reused, take it from me, I have done this conversion twice already.

Ok Dark...Im working on getting a 06+ Bose radio, brackets, and side panels. The navi controller fits perfectly. Is your car an automatic trans?

Mine is a manual, but only part that is different in the dash should be the shifter surround.
