2004 350z issues - please help
Hi all,
I have a 2004 350z, 6-speed. A little under 70,000 miles. Wow !
Nissan tells me both front spindle ball joints are separated. Repair cost is $1,000.
And there is a transmission leak. Repair cost is $1,600.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, also does anyone know anyone who works on 350zs in Las Vegas or Los Angeles ?
Thank you.

Those repair quotes are ridiculous and opportunistic (read: "ripoff"). $800 labor to repair a couple hundred bucks worth of suspension components?? Ummmm, no. I don't have access to my old AllData stuff to verify but there's no way there's even the worst case 4 hours of $200/hr labor for ball joints and alignment. NO WAY.
My local Z shop charges under that to replace multiple components including UCAs on the front end of a Z.
$1600 for a tranny leak repair? How're they repairing it? By R&R of the entire unit????
Walk away. Walk away with your checkbook in your pocket and find someone else less crooked.

They work on everything Z from S30 to Z34. Mine's there right now. Heh heh.
Seriously though, Rob and his crew know their stuff. Spent an hour talking with another customer of theirs. His ZCG-installed supercharger equipped G37S was there for an oil change.
Used to be at least two other Z-only shops in the Bay Area. Z Doctor in Richmond (Rob told me that Dave retired, sold the entire shop, building and all, retired to the Wine Country!) and Datsonville (spelling is correct) on the Peninsula (Burlingame I think) but they're more of a general shop now servicing all Japanese makes.
