Best phone holder
Hey guys, does anyone have a phone holder that works really well and either fits nicely or clips on to something well in the dash/center console area? Looking for something that makes using google maps or waze easier. I just know they can vary a lot and some fit better in certain cars. If anyone has one that works well I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction!

I guess my phone is sort of relevant, but arent most of them adjustable? I have a Sony Xperia z3v.
I like the cupholder idea though because that one on the right by the passenger seat is useless!

I dont want a vent clip one either i think because the vents in the 04 Z are not really the right size or in the right orientation. I was thinking a windshield one but i don't love the idea of obstructing my view even a bit. I think cup holder mount is the winner

YMMV - (but might come in handy for others looking this info up)
don't know the measurements on your particular phone/nor if you have something installed in the cubby... but i found that
TRIDENT AMS-SAM-S4-BK Kraken AMS Case for Samsung Galaxy S IV
fits just perfectly in the cubby in a horizontal postion with the head phone jack plugged in (one of the L shaped ones)
and with the USB jack plugged in- i just slip a lil memo pad underneath to hold it secure
i really was looking hard at buying a new head unit so i could play pandora and other streaming music thru my stock bose set up- but with this-i am using that old bit of wonderful tech -the cassette tape adaptor- and i can easily view maps while driving ...

I got this one a few months back...actually works really great. Very solid...works with or without a CD in the stereo too. It is definitely a little lower than most people would want though...I use mine infrequently so for me it's perfect.

I recently found this mount for my iPhone 7:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MLZZ7KA/
They make mounts for both Lightning & Micro USB cables
Here is a picture of the mount installed:
The kit came with a cleaning and drying wipe to prep the surface before adhesion, and I have the bottom of the mount leaning right against the cubby door to stabilize it even further.
Hope this helps.

That is the base, then you buy a phone specific holder that screws onto the base. Or do what my wife did in her Volvo and use a magnetic mount (via the 3M tape) to the base instead of the ProClip holder this:

Phone mount, super clean
This is by far the best Phone Mounting system I have ever seen for a 350z Drift Car.
This phone mount is sturdy, out of the way, wirelessly charges your phone, opens and closes automatically and has no wires hanging around. It looks like it came from the factory.
But you have to make it. The tools it takes to make is a trim removal tool kit ($7.00 Amazon), hacksaw, drill, vise grip and hammer. It also makes it easier if you have a Vise, but its not necessary.
Materials:
-Bracket Material: 1-3/8" wide by 5' long perforated steel from Lowes
See Link: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Steelworks-...orated/3053679
-ARKON Metal 4 Hole AMPS to 17mm Ball Adapter:
See Link: https://a.co/d/3wFH3FJ
-Piosoo Wireless Car Charger-Cup Holder Phone Mount:
See Link: https://a.co/d/3dlFbUf
-Dash Cam Hardwire Kit,USB C Hard Wire Kit(11.5ft)
See Link: https://a.co/d/9TVAFrT
Instructions:
-Remove the passenger side vent
-Run the wires for Hard Wire Kit from the passenger vent to the 350z fuse panel. Make sure its a 12 volt power that turns off when the key is turned off. If possible use and unused fuse slot.
-Take the perforated steel from Lowes and cut a piece "5 holes in length". If you screw up, you have lots of material to try again. See below photo of bracket
-Drill a hole beside the 5th hole of the perforated steel, the same size as the screw on the back of the passenger side air vent support. Its around 3/16" but double check the size on the vent.
-Make two bends in perforated steel, see the below photo of the bracket
-Cut the excess metal around the 5th hole, the metal beside the 3/16" hole
-Paint the bracket Black
-Remove the Arkon 17 mm ball adapter from the black plate in comes with. Then screw the ball adapter into the first hole of the bracket. Use Loctite so it doesn't come out.
-Attach the bracket you've made with the "Passenger Air Vent" support screw. see below.
-Install the Passenger Air Vent.
-Mount and plug in the Wireless Car Charger.
Located just below the passenger side air vent out of the way from everything. Note: It is NOT connected to the vent louvers.
Dash Bracket made from steel with metal ball mount, very sturdy. Holder opens and closes automatically with fast wireless charging. Wires are in the dash, nothing hanging around.
This is the bracket that holds the phone holder. Small, simple and easy to make.
This is the passenger side vent. This hole is where the bracket attaches too. The bracket also is held by pressure between the vent assembly and dash. This makes the Phone holder extremally solid.
Bracket Material from Lowes This is the Steelworks 1-3/8-in x 5-ft Interior/Exterior Zinc-Plated Steel Perforated. You only need about 4 inches of it, but it comes in a 5 ft length.
Wireless Charging Phone holder that opens and closes automatically
Wireless Charging, Infrared Smart Senson to open and close, 360 degree rotation.
Hard Wire Kit for USB C fast charging
This is the 17 mm ball mount used to attached to the bracket to the phone holder. Note: There is a single screw that allows you to remove the ball mount from the black plate with 4 holes. It just so happens the single screw holding the 17 mm ball mount fits perfectly into the holes in the bracket.
If you don't have a Vise, use these sheet metal vise grips for sheet metal to make the bends in the bracket.
