Default Kinetix high flow cats fit badly...

Did anyone else have this problem?

My passenger side cat looked like it was bent out of shape and the brackets to use the stock support were nowhere close to lining up.

At least they don't sound like ****, but judging from the fitment of these cats, I don't think i'll ever buy another Kinetix part again.

We just put in a set of kinetix cats tonight..Absolute GARBAGE..The bracket had to be shaved on one side and the passenger side piping was not bent enough and it hung noticibly lower than the driver side..

If you let him know I'm sure he'll make it right. Their customer service is some of the best I have seen.

*Waits for some Crawford cronie to come and bash away*

after my install I had some rattling noice. Took it back and found out that the right side was rubbing against something so they had to shave it a little to avoid contact.

no problems since.

Well I do remember that you lean one way on the Kinetix/Crawford stuff, too. I'm one of the relatively few people who were willing to try both products and I got burned.

Also, I can't speak too much to Crawford's level of customer service, because I've never had to use it after buying a product. The one time I did use it, I wasn't even a customer and they spent an hour on the phone helping me out with an issue.

I'm sure Kinetix has good customer service like you say, but next time I'll honestly stick with a company that "make's it right" before you buy the part.

WTF?!?!?!?!
Your telling me that you DENTED your subframe/body to make those POS Kinetix things fit??You seriously have to be kidding me right.I thought only MULLET wearing MUSTANG owners did crap like that..J/KSeriously,dont you think thats NOT how they are supposed to fit??

I'm sure Kinetix has good customer service like you say, but next time I'll honestly stick with a company that "make's it right" before you buy the part.

I couldnt have said it any better myself.I rather have a company with sub-par customer service and NEVER have to experience it than have a to utilize their return policy a dozen times till THEY get it right.Wake up folks.Seriously.

*waits for the die hard Kinetix fans to come bash, cause Kinetix was kind enough to replace their plenums 5 times*

I lean away from Crawford because of all the bashing they do. I'm not going to mention any names but it's the same group, always touting everything Crawford. They may very well have a fine product, but for me the aggressive bashing of any product that is in competition with their products is annoying. The new headers that became available were bashed over and over again. Then the newbs jump on the bandwagon with "Yeah, what he said" crap.

And you can wait all you want for the "die hard Kinetix fans" because there isn't any. I think Crawford has the monopoly on the zealots. I'm wouldn't consider myself a die hard fan of Kinetix either, I just like to keep things on an even playing field and encourage new companies to make products for our cars. Not bash them and treat them like lepers. Why would you not want many different companies to make products for our cars? You just want one company? If only one company makes a product they don't have to be competitive with the pricing or improve their original product. Having competition forces them to do one or the other (Hopefully both).

But when you ARE the competition you perhalps should step up your game and make a product that does the following:
1)works
2)out performs
3)fits better or in Kinetix case, correctly
4)cheaper
5)does not break

The products will either get better or the business will go under. Also as you probably know some of those in your list don't go together well, notably out performs and cheaper

Ahh..To the contrary..The more something costs does not ALWAYS mean its better..

For example:Nismo oil cooler $1200-----------Stillen Oil cooler $375
The extra cost does not always make it worth it...

I'm not saying that's the rule, there are always exceptions. Nismo is always going to be overpriced.

Are you trying to pick a fight? I mean how you post it is as if you are trying to cause problems. You bash at this "Crawford bunch" acting in the way that you describe they act like.

I don't really care, but that is just an observation from another party.

As for the cats sometimes things get built out of spec and don't fit right. Maybe you got a bad set.

Must have struck a chord of truth if you think I'm trying to pick a fight. I'm not trying to cause problems, just making an observation. I could dig up quotes to prove, but I'm sure you've read them too and I'm not that interested.

Just to clarify I really don't think it's the maker of the products that acts this way, rather individuals, but I'm not sure. "Crawford Cronies" is just a name I have for the people that come out and bash new companies that are in competition with Crawford. They (the individuals) may not like the name but I don't like the bashing without first giving them a chance, if they are proven wrong bash away.

If anyone else has any questions, comments, feeling or emotions about "Crawford Cronies" label PM me. Lets try and keep this thread pointed in the general direction of a final resolution to his cat problem.

I definitely don't think that's a fair assessment of my situation. Hraesvelg, you didn't even give me a chance before you posted that everyone in this thread was a "Crawford Chronie", but I tried the cats even though I like Crawford stuff better. They are not as advertised. I'm sure they do work though, as there's not much to designing a high flow cat aside from fit and finish.

As far as me getting a bad set, I don't think so. I can't think of how one set would get bent wrong. And I certainly didn't get an old set because the welds were top notch (previous Kinetix cats and cat pipes were not welded so hot).

I guess noone read the PM thing, 350zdanny is your thread anyway and I guess you don't mind me keeping this public, so let me retort:

Where did I do that?

Don't have a problem, everyone keeps responding to my quotes, and I have to explain where I'm coming from. People are making the assumption that I am talking about them and I have not referred to anyone in this thread as a "Crawford Cronie".

Regardless of how you spin what you're doing, you entered this thread and began an argument. There was no need to kick up dirt from old arguments. I do appreicate your insight into my problem, though.

Just so there is no confusion, the Kinetix cats do work (for about 200 miles) and they sound relatively good. There is not much rasp, but I do feel that given this part's fitment and the fitment of some other parts my friends and I have tried, that I would not buy anything else with the Kinetix name on it. To the same end, I would not recommend anything Kinetix.

Dan
