SCCA Track Night in America

SCCA Track Night in America
SCCA is hosting weeknight HPDE events across the country. They are in the afternoon , I leave work about 2:30 get on track for the first session at 4:00 and home by 8:30. They have 3 run groups (novice/intermediate/advanced) and each group gets 3-20 min sessions for $150. They even have a parade lap that you can take family out on track in your car.
For the money, its the best deal out there. If any of my fellow track junkies are planning to do one of these events, let me know as I have a coupon code that gets you a pretty nice discount.
If your anywhere near Pittsburgh, they have just finished the South track. SCCA has secured the Full Track (2.8miles) for July 14 so they will be the first HPDE to host an event on the new track.

SCCA scheduled some of these Track Night Out events here in Colorado at High Plains Raceway (HPR). They're a great, low-cost alternative to track days and they'll be at HPR on July 16th and August 20th 2015. Let's hope we can get some Z car pilots interested in taking their cars out to a place where they can really run our cars the way they deserve to be run- FAST!

I ran the one at NCM(National Corvette Museum) in June and had a blast. 1 other Z car there and not a lot of runoff room at the track. They said the first one they had in May a guy did wreck his 68 Corvette. This time one guy lost his brakes and another guy I believe had a transmission issue. They had 2 paced lap session so I got 5-20 minute sessions. I want to go back. They ran the short course but said if they doubled attendance they might open up the full course for July.

Sounds like a good way to learn a track for those of us with a racing background. In many cases, you have to pay quite a bit to test the day before a SCCA or NASA race to learn how to drive the track, so you can be at, or near competitive lap times.

There have these Track Nights around the country at different tracks, these are a great alternative to a full day and weekend events that cost twice as much. $150 or less if SCCA member for 3 20 minute sessions. I attended the one at The Ridge Motorsports Park. Well run and relaxed event. They don't allow race cars so it's just street legal cars. My only complaint is they don't allow passages an less they are another participant. Had a friend come along with me but he couldn't ride along
