Thumbs down Sad Day cracked a volk :(

Well my tire has been going down on air for the last few weeks so I finally got down to discount to see the cause. The guy came back shaking his head and I figured I had a nail or something stupid in my sidewall and they didn't have the tire, but to my dismay he tells me I have a crack in the rim and its leaking through that Cracked on the inner barrell on the bead.

So I need new rims with the quicknes so I'm thinking about buying some 18" TSW Thruxtons (I'm sick of 19's and their stupid tire prices, and 20's are going to be super heavy). They offer a 18x8 with a 20 offset or a 40 offset. And a 18x9.5 with a 20 offset for the rear. Question is should I go for the 20 offset or the 40 in the front? And what size tire should I run? 245/275 35 or 245/275 40?

The Volk GT-7's will also be for sale for VERY CHEAP because I'm going to need the money for the new rims and tires. I really don't want to get rid of them, but I dont have another set to run around on while waiting for repairs (Merc Silver)

Why not get the wheel repaired? If the crack is only big enough to cause a small leak, it can't be that bad.

Impossible. Volk are the strongest wheels known to man. Even Superman could not break a Volk wheel!

So you had Volks, but your going to be buying TSW... WHAT? If you had/have the money for Volks why waste your money on shitty TSW wheels? WTF? Look at Work or Nismo or something, please don't get TSW wheels.

I do not care for the Thruxtons especially in 18". Will look itty bitty. If your doing 18 it needs to be something with a minimal lip or just go back to stock.

why dont you just buy one wheel and replace the broken one? wouldnt that be cheaper than buying 4 new wheels and tires? maybe you get get the broken one under a factory warranty or something? i would think such a high dollar wheel such as a volk would have some backing by its company? i dont know just food for thought...

That's originally what I was going to suggest, until I realized that there is a long wait to custom order Volk's. Since they're three piece wheels, you should only need to order the barrel from Ray's. Also, you might be able to order an aftermarket barrel.

Shows you that you dont always get what you pay for. Remember on the multi piece volks only the inner parts are forged and the barrels are cast.
Honestly even forged wheels will crack at high impact.

umm, it's the other way around. Barrel is forged, face is cast.
