350z as a Daily Driver
Who here uses their Z as a daily driver?
I driver about 30 miles one way to work across Tampa Bay, been doing it in my 99 Pathfinder (another great Nissan btw) for about 6 years.
I just bought an 05 Touring with a 6 speed... now I am having to decide if I should keep my Pathfinder (and the extra insurance that goes with it) or sell it and drive the Z to and from work.
The Pathfinder is also a manual, 130k mileage... wife's upset about having to shuffle her suv along with my two rides...

I'm sort of in the same boat as you, except my truck isn't paid off. And I'm not married. Anyway, I plan on keeping my truck as my daily driver and the Z will just be the fun car. Lately, though, it's been the primary because the truck is in the shop...damn oil change place stripped the drain plug and can't find a new one.

Trop...just do yourself a favor and keep the Pathfinder. If you're like me and hate seeing that new get miles on the odometer, you'll be glad you have that truck. I just got my Z on last week and I've already put 300 miles on it...new car joyriding, driving to work...and I'm sorta ticked about that. I'm going to take it easy next week, assuming I get the truck back from the oil change place (bastards).

note though, i don't have to deal with winter road conditions etc.

I have a 04 Z daily driver, long trips, every chance I can drive it vehicle. It has 17k on it right now. I also have a 01 Xterra with like 70k on it. When I first got the Xterra, I never wanted to drive it. Then my mother-in-law was like, "next time you buy a car, just leave it in my garage and it won't get high mileage". She was being a smart @ss but she was right. "You pay to drive it" is my new rule. I look back and can't believe I would not drive my Xterra to insure that the next owner of it has low miles. Screw that guy! Where's my keys?!?!

I drive mine every day (except for the one week in january where there's snow). Granted, I only live about 7 minutes from work but I don't care if it's rainy or sunny. I don't care if I have a "rare" color. I enjoy driving and so I bought a car that I would enjoy doing it in. Be it a short jaunt downtown for work or a 4 hour drive to get into the twisties w/ other Z enthusiasts.
I didn't buy a 1:1 scale model for the garage or a museum piece, I bought stress relief.

Im trying to buy a Z now. Wife wants me to have a family car. So i considered buying a Sh*t Box as well. But I think the Sh*t Box would just sit. I cant spend 30 grand on a car that doesnt get driven except on weekends.

The Zed makes a great daily driver. I drive mine year-round (including Canadian winters). I call it my 2-seater family car.
My wife already drives a Volvo wagon so why should we need another 4 seater? Although it's never happened in the 2 years I've owned my 350z, I'm sure I could easily find a family member willing to lend their minivan for a weekend if need be...
