350z as a Daily Driver
#181
Just got my z ... but it will be daily driver for me as well --- average 30,000 to 35,000 per year. Rain, snow, cold, mud, city, country, you name -- I drive in it. I've tried the 2 cars thing before -- but it just doesnt work for me. I LOVE to drive -- and so -- I want to drive the car that I enjoy -- even if its a run to the corner store durring a blizzard. When I get a car -- I just figure Im going to drive it till it wears out -- and usually by then --- I've got the hots for something else, anyway!! .........

My Z is my daily driver as well. I've had it for 3 weeks and I've got about 2100 miles on it. I've racked up quite a few miles in the twisty canyon roads on Sun. mornings. I even found one extremely curvy road with steep hills that I even get the Z airborne tons of fun! When I buy a car/motorcycle I drive/ride the wheels off it. I just don't see the point of keeping it in a garage somewhere to only drive it once every 2 weeks to keep the miles low. Eff that...I want to experience all it has to offer. Matter of fact...as soon the the roads dry up from the rain we just had I'm going for a long Fri. night cruise.

I love making my Z solely my weekend whip. Back when i drove my car every day, after a while it just didnt feel "new" anymore. Now it does each time i drive it!! Plusnit looks showroom and isnt ragged out a bit.

Most definately my daily driver as I can't afford to drive two cars. I could get a Jeep beater or something - which I may depending on how bad this car is in the snow (we get too much snow here in CT for now skiing dammit!). I've had the car about 5 weeks now and I think I have put 1800 miles on it (I got it with 32,500) . It will have over 2800 of my miles at the end of next week after this "run" trip to VT. My work commute is about 22 miles each way, so around 300 miles a week in work driving (1200 a month - 14,400 a year). Assuming I drive other place (most certainly do) I am looking at probably 17,000 miles a year easily. At that pace, my '03 will have 120,000 miles by the time its paid for in '11. (that is if I kept it that long, I damn well better get a promotion somewhere in there and upgrade to a newer Z).

It's nice to meet other people who share my own situation and philosophy! This is really a great site!
I only drive about 20,000 per year and have never had more than one car at a time. Only problem I've got now is to get all-season tires put on before winter rolls around.

Yup, my Z is my DD also. I had a 280 back in the 80's in Ohio and drove it year around. I live right at the west end of the Columbia River Gorge in Washington now. I got your twisty roads right cheer.
