Windshield chip
I was on my way to work when a freakin boulder hit my windshield. I now have a crack in my windshield thats a bit larger than a dime. Anybody know if insurance will cover a new windshield? No matter how much you try and take care or the car, SOMETHING is bound to happen.

if the crack has gotten bigger than a dollar or if its directly in the visual field of the driver, they wont repair it and then you are looking at a new windshield. that will then kick in your deductible. if you are a zero deductible then dont sweat it. but if you have 250 or 500 then you will want to start shopping for an affordable but good shield, cause the cost of the shield will be mainly out of your pocket through the deductible. you can do a search on the repairing forum for threads in the past that have delt with this.
good luck.

USAA Rox. It will likely be a no charge deal. They might even send someone to your work to do the repair. Remember though that you only get a couple of comprehensive "freebies" before your rate gets jacked up, and the hail up here rox!
BTW, sorry about your windshield, that reeks. Get it fixed ASAP, as windshield cracks spread quickly, especialy in the winter!

usaa rock chip
Just got my windshield replaced yesterday due to rock chips. I had a small chip about half the size of a dime and got it filled for 25$. 2 hours after it was fixed it spread from door to door. My deductable via USAA was 500$ so I paid 245$ out of pocket for a new one. Good luck with yours. BEN

Future reference USAA won't pay to have it replaced. They have a special deal where you get a discount on a replacement through safelite and thats it. I went down this exact road a few months ago, only my crack couldn't be covered by 3 dollar bills

mine started as a chip the size of a dime and since it was last november, on a friday, by the time monday came and i could call the insurance company, it had started to spider out and was just under the size of where it could just be repaired. got lucky.
