Default ford dealer

so I was at a local ford dealer looking at the new mustang gt, when the salesman came up and asked me what I was driving. I told him the silver 350, and he said: you don't think that can beat this mustang, do you? I told him I thought it could with a couple of mods. So he replied: I don't know about that, this thing has 300 hp. I just kind of laughed and shrugged him off. Has anyone run against one of these yet?

I'm not sure about weight or Torque, but it's a Ford, so it probably weighs in at about 4,000 pounds.

I've seen a few on the roads here, but haven't had a chance to play with one yet (I always seem to be in the Navigator these days???)

We could smoke them in the turns, the new Mustang still has a solid rear axel. Old school technology.

Everything I've seen so far leads me too believe it would be more of a driver's race than a guaranteed win for either car...

Yeah, with a couple of mods. But with a couple of mods and less money, the mustang can easely get 100 hp. They dont care much about the handling, mustang drivers just want to smoke us at a red light on a half miles race.

I believe the new Mustang has IRS.

As far as "old school"...back when I had my '65 Shelby Mustang GT-350 ('66-'74) I could routinely humiliate frat guys in Porsche 911s on my backyard racetrack: CA 74 from Valle Vista to Mtn Center. It was "old school" solid rear axle, etc., but it weighed an honest 2840 lb (weighed it), had big sticky Goodyear "polyglas" tires, and most importantly, I KNEW THE ROAD!

Ah, yes, I lovingly remember the sound of the Detroit Automotive locker diff clanking away in parking lots...shoulda never sold her.

nope, the 05 mustang still has a solid rear axle. but feels really good, at least for ride. didn't get to try out much handling on the street.

yeah, it's a little porky, around 3500 lbs. and the gearing on the 5 speed is pretty tall so yeah it has 300 horses, but it's hard to tell which car will win a street drag race. i bet you a popular mod will be a shorter rear end.

oh yeah, i drove the 05 gt convertible a while back. super fun car.

Yep that's one of their maketing ploys, "super strong solid rear axel". You guys are so sensitive, just think about how many sports cars today still have a solid rear.

On the track Stock Z vs. Stock Stang, I'll bet the Z would win hands down.

It's still a Mustang, and there are already a few at my school. Every other high school kid has one. I'm the only one at my high school with a 350Z. =)
