Talking I finally did it! (the wait begins)

I finally ordered my Z and finally found a dealer willing to work with me.

I placed an order last night for a PPW Enthusiast 6MT with side airbags, kick plates, floor mats and splash guards.

I really didn't want the guards but they're the third dealer in the area to give me the spiel about how I had to buy them because its a mandatory accessory in our area. It might be a jackass regional manager pushing them to do that, and they gave me less than sticker on them, so I just let it go. I can always have them take them off when my car comes.

In any case, I ordered from Star Nissan in Skokie, IL, and they were decent guys. They gave me MSRP and a fair trade and I'm bringing them my trade today, as I have other means of transportation and I wanted the max for my trade-in.

Now the wait begins and I'm proud to join the number of patiently waiting customers!

-Jon

PS - Thanks to all of you guys for your wealth of knowledge, advice and information. It really helped me order this car.

I traded a 2000 Integra GSR and I got mid 13s for it (KBB value). Its not much and I know the car is worth 15k on the street as I kept it in GREAT shape, but I still get the tax break, which effectively pumps up the worth of the car to mid 14s. I'm happy with that.

I will most definitely post pics when I get it.

Congrats on ordering! Now all you have to do is wait it out. I've only been waiting a month and a half and I'm already going craZy.

When did they say delivery would be? I was at a dealership in San Diego this weekend and they were saying April for new orders.

This was Mossy Nissan Kearny Mesa, the salesman was a nice guy. They had one that was a cancelled pre-order and the guy let us sit in it and check it out. He also said they were committed to selling all Zs at MSRP, and that there are no test drives. It was a silverstone enthusiast with the side airbags, aero, and mudguards. I'm totally sold on the silverstone enthusiast now.

When I bought my civic last winter (in Schaumburg), the dealer pushed splash guards as a mandatory item. I told them no thanks. The dealer manager said "not an option, my friend. you get the splash guards." I again said no thanks. They finally gave me the splash guards for free, stating that they were, indeed, a mandatory item in that area. Pushing them is one thing, giving them away for free...makes me wonder.

I made the jump myself almost a month ago.

Bad news...

The wait gets harder and harder, the obsession grows even more obsessive, and each day will seem longer than the last.

Congratulations.

Heehee, I just ordered mine too.

Worked out a snazzy deal to trade-in my '01 Eclipse for an '02 Maxima to absorb some of the negative equity from my Eclipse, then I'm getting the Z at $500 under MSRP!

I'll be getting a Daytona Blue 6MT Touring ... in this area (Washington state), they're saying late-January to sometime in February for new orders ...

Yeah, me too. Apparently they included a link to a file inside a school network that requires a logon.

Thanks.

I turned in my trade today and spoke with the manager. He's very confident that he can get my Z in around 8 weeks. They're the number one dealer in the Mid West and they get some pull because of that. In any case, I'm fiending for it, but I'm happy to wait a bit because I'll have even more money by the time I get the car. I just hope the dockworkers union comes to a solution! Otherwise, who knows when I'll get the car. The grace period ends in a couple months...
