Exclamation Do All Z's Have Tranny Issues????

I read in a different thread about all the issues with the 6MT tranny issues. Talks about grinding, etc. Anyone out there that has a 6MT with over 2k miles and NOT seeing ANY issues with their tranny? Or is it shifting like butter?

No issues here. Actually I think the Z shifts better than the S2K.

Mine has a rattle around 4-5000 rpm, but it doesn't happen all the time, comes and goes, and when the windows are down, I can't hear it. Mechanically it is very smooth after 4300+ miles, no grinding, just snicks right into place.

Then of course there's the visor rattle, but that's another thread...

Hey Jan,

Your name and 300 look familiar. Has your 300 ever been at Alamo Autosports in Arlington (DFW)?

BTW, your birthday is 3 days after mine.

Michael.

About three people reported actual tranny problems, and a few others have noted that the shifter is stiffer than they are used to and are asking if this is normal. About 8,000 other drivers (my estimate based on production numbers) are quite happy! People with problems will post a message, but that doesn't mean everyone has the problem! I LOVE the feel and action of my 6-speed -- it works and shifts perfectly and I could not be happier with it. Please, don't make us post a thread with 8,000 messages saying "my tranny works fine"!

Sorry to hear about y'all problems.

My car has had nothing but problems with the tranny.

They are finally replacing it next week with a new unit.

Perhaps they should have done that the 1st time around!!!

The 6 sp transmission on my 350Z Track is simply the best I've experienced. I love the smooth, direct, "bolt action" feel. Far superior to the clunky Getrag tranny on my 1997 Supra. Better than the ZF unit on my 2000 M Coupe.

Hey JLA I just read your entire website RE: your Z06. What was the final outcome? Did they buy back your vehicle? It seems to be you never actually attempted to solve your problems by going to arbritration. A friend of mine had MUCH less major problems on a Toyota Camery and went to arbritration in Boston, and forced the dealer/man. to buy back his car.
