Lightbulb Some more questions from the Stang owner

How many models are there of the 350z? I heard touring, track, what else? Do they all come with the same engine?? Same power rating??

Nissan 350Z Page

All come with the same engine and power output. Differences in weight, equipment options.

To make it worse, very few people are getting near the MPG that's claimed...I'm averaging 15.6 MPG, mix of city and highway, I don't drive it real hard, tend to shift around 3500-4000 rpm. Thought I'd be getting closer to 20.

Does the Stang get better gas mileage?

I get 19.4 for the first 400 miles Ive driven. and this is 90% city driving, VERY stop and go and lots of hills. hard to believe youve gotten worse, you must either run your RPMs much higher or redline alot. if I am going somewhere I will hit 3500 or higher, but for casual driving Im in 6th gear at 40mph and I will accelerate in 6th gear unless I need to do so quickly.

I'm at 2500 miles, had only one tank where I got over 17 MPG, and that was one highway drive when I picked up the car. I've tried keeping it in 6th above 45, shifting below 3500, a little of everything, no luck.

Maybe it's the AC. In Florida, I've had to keep it on all the time, and cbrickman is getting like 13 MPG city...or maybe I just got the lucky Z. Maybe my convertible will get better mileage.

I get right around 20 with a mix between highway and street...that is pretty good for a v8 runninng rich (no cats and some mods).

The guys getting such crappy MPG after break-in may have a throttle mis-calibration. That's my theory.

Maybe it just takes a bit longer to fully break in the engine so that its running nice and loose. We'll see as people put on more miles.
