Default Replaced 6MT trannies, any failures since??

I had my tranny replaced aobut 15K miles ago with a 007 revision (I just recently found out there were 008 revision). I was considering switching out the fluid to synthetic, but don't want to give the dealer an excuse if the tranny fails again. Have there been any reported failures of the 007 revision or am I safe to go ahead and put in the synthetic???

Any help is appreciated!

Ouch, I guess that means I might want to stay with the Nissan fluid to cover myself at least until the end of the warranty period!!!

warranty for tranny is good for 60K.
They always fized mine within a few days so I have been lucky.

It looks like I will be getting KBB value for mine through lemon law and then I will just buy another SB or PPW Z

What problems did you have? I get a slight grind going into 6th... if I shift hard from 5th to 6th I get it, and if I shift from 3rd to 6th or from 4th to 6th I get it even worse.

That is how mine started a while back. Going into 6th was a pain if you skipped any gears. Then it would grind going into 3rd EVERY time. Then going into 6th would do the same after a while.

Mine grinds sometimes when going 2nd to 6th when the RPM is still up, but my previous two 5 speed cars did the same thing when going into 5th. I think it is cause there is no way for the synchros to work well when skipping that many gears and being at a high RPM. I call it normal, although I am sure many will say I am crazy.

I wonder what is REALLY wrong..... I mean I could understand if you got 1 bad transmission and then got really unlucky with the second one that was defective but 4?!?!?! DAMN......... It's not the trany's problem but something else that causes it to break. What could it be, any idea? Anyone?

P.S. EnsuZiast I assume you driving style has nothing to do with them breaking.

Sorry, kinda off topic but I couldn't get much feedback on my question I started in the Repairing section. Hope some of you guys that went through tranny replacements can help me.

1)Has anybody replaced their transmission with a short shifter installed?

2) Should I return my shifter to stock before taking it to the dealer?

I havent done that mod, but YES return it to stock, and dont tell them you had one in. Dont give them ANY chance to blame you for it or they will. They make more money if they charge you for the work instead of charging Nissan.

I really hate dealership service... dont trust them at all!

I am on my 3rd right now. When they put it in, I had NO 6TH GEAR FOR A WEEK!!!! There was no way in hell you can force it into 6th, it just wouldn't go in.

Like 2 days before taking it back into the dealership for my 4th, 6th gear started working (go figure). It hasn't been grinding into 2nd since then (it has been a few K miles).
