Default What the F???

F = Feathering

I brought my car in for service today and to address the feathering issue. Tires were replaced at 7k and the feathering is back at 15k. They aren't replacing my tires, but acknowledge the feathering is causing the roar. Anybody run into this yet? Nissan Consumer Affairs is having a specialist in the area take a look at it to make a determination. Crap!

Ok...so what tires should I replace it with on my own dime if they wuss out?

Sorry to put this in the main thread, but my car is at the shop now. Looking for instant responses. Thanks!

really any sports tire other than the crappy potenza 040's. i have falkens and they have worn fine since i had my fix. i also went to 19's. another key thing is to get algnments every 3-5 mos or at least twice a year on your own dime. what i have done is gone to my local alignment shop and worked a deal so that i paid a little over 100 bucks and i got 4 or 5 alignments. never expires and transfers from one car to another so that if i get another Z. oh yeah the alignment has to be done on then hunter machine.

Are you pleased with the Nittos? I'm thinking the Goodyear F1s.

I had new Michelin Pilots put on when I bought the car (bought it used). I started noticing tire roar after about 6 to 7k miles. Went to Nissan and had the service bulletin done. They told me the feathering was so minor that they did not need to be replaced or rotated. They just set it to the proper alignment and sent me on my way. 6k miles later, I still have minor tire roar, but it seems to be getting better (maybe tires are evening out). Most importantly, the tires seem to be wearing normally.

They "rotated" your tires? As in put the fronts in the rear. Aren't your stock tires 225's in the front and 245 in the rear. Thats not a good thing

By rotating them they unmount the tires and remount to the opposite sides.

I have got to wonder why anyone would need more than one alignment to get things set up right unless they were running into things or some suspension parts wear wearing out.
