Default Finally Got In a 350Z 300hp 35th, Info and pics....

Ok, we here are Performance Nissan have been waiting anxiously for a 6spd 300hp 350Z Anniversary to come off the truck. WE finally got one in, and found some info out on it.....

First, the car is basically the same. The engine pic is not too promising on differnces. There is no difference with the plenum, intake, filter, airbox, exhaust, etc...
At first glance everything seems the same.

But looking closer, you can see the new gear covers on the front of the motor:

The extra HP seems to be generated by the variable cam timing setup this VQ has.
Also, the car seems (at least to me) to rev just a tad bit quicker, so i'm thinking they might have used a nismo flywheel???
Or it could just be me, since i have not driven my car in nearly two months and just lost touch....

The car drives differently, in comparison to a stock Z, but not by TOO much. It's nicer, and you can really feel the difference in the mid to upper RPM range where the variable timing really shines.
I hate to say it like this, but think of it as a smoother engaging VTEC. Not as noticeable, but it's there and you can tell it makes a difference.

Lastly, the side emblem is different on the fenders, and only on the 6spd, not the auto. :

The new emblem has a bronze ring, with glossy black background, instead of silver ring and flat black background.
not much of a difference but it looks cool.

Nice write up. That new cover and sensor definitely looks like variable timing to me.

The car did have a noticable difference, especially more throughout the high rpm range, smoother and more usable power up top but nothing too significant. The clutch also felt a little different but then it mightve been cause it was brand new.

Not bad considering the engine isn't broke in yet and you are probably comparing to a Z that is broken in.

I'm wondering how how much better this engine setup handles boost vs the normal VQ.

Nice report Tony. Of course, we're drooling for more info. Will the '04 engine accept this mod? Is it worth it?

Thats extremely lame.. I mean I'll understand not getting the special engine... but to rip me off of the emblem too... thats kinda upsetting!

Nice... been waiting for that The gloss black looks so much nicer than the flat black. Price is per emblem right? (sorry, dumb question, but still just had to ask just in case hehe)
