I dunno... something just doesn't add up here. Even a jr. joe schmoe technician at circuit city could install a unit of this type and amp without ever touching the ECU.

Maybe you had something installed in the past, but only now the problem was discovered? Aftermarket alarm? Any mods... at all?

The only thing I can think of is that they forced the center console off, causing a short/break in some other circuit. They couldn't figure out what was going on, and tried to see what the ECU would tell them, or tried to disable that feed into the ECU so no "malfunction" would appear at all.

I'm sorry to hear that man. Hi-Fi needs to take full responsibilities for their action.
Make sure you go after them consistantly and dont' let them slide.

I also wonder what the other 7 wires are for? They all came from the headunit? what did you get of those to monitor your rpm and speed?

I would rather not say the name of the person responsible unless everything is not worked out to my satisfaction. I have been a customer of Hi-Fi Buys for the last 10 years and have spent thousands upon thousnads of dollars with them and this is the only time they have done anything wrong. I know all of the guys up there in the car stereo and installation department. I would not have thought that they would drag a$$ like this, especially since I know them all.

Yes they do some pretty wicked installations on some really high end cars, and I do not know how they could have messed up like this.

The car only had a Injen CAI and topspeed headers when I brought it to them, that is it. The interior was completely stock. Everyones guess is as good as mine as to why or how this could happen.

I will give an update later today after I talk to them to see what they are going to do to fix the situation.

Man ! I hate to hear this. HI-FI is known to be a good company....Sounds like the installer screwed the pooch. Even worse it's a fellow Ga. Z driver. Let us know! Call a lawyer if you have to.

Almost sounds like they decided to wire up an Apex SAFC II to add some joy to a little joy ride they took your Z on.

Looks like everything is finally being handled. I got several calls yesterday after calling anyone and everyone I could get a hold of. They are getting me a rental car today, getting Nissan to fix my car as to not void my warranty, and reimbursing me everything I paid them (which is good since the cd will not work when I get it back from Nissan as they do not wire up aftermarket CD players).

I got a call from the Installer manager, the store manager, and even the District manager yesterday. So it seems like everyone knows what happened and they all seem sympathetic and in a hurry to fix the problem. The district manager even gave the name & phone # of the insurance guy who is going to be calling me today, and he said if I have any problems to call him on his cell phone.

I'll let everyone know what Nissan says after I talk to them.

I just want everyone to know that I do like H-Fi Buys, and I am still going to shop there. I have been a customer for the last 10 years and have spent thousands upon thousands of $ with them. Accidents happen and it looks like they are owning up to it.

I'd at least as for an explanation as to what the funk they were doing with the ECU.
