Default Just test drove '05 Z

What a great car! The attention to detail is amazing. I drove the Touring model with 5-speed manumatic. The Silverstone color is awesome!

Impressions: nicer, more "fighterjet" feel than the WRX. I felt like I could almost see the front end of the car. Exhaust note is LOUD sounds almost aftermarket. I was worried (needlessly) about the off-the-line grunt & that it wouldn't pin me back in my seat. I think it strained my neck

The manumatic seems to work very well. You can almost start off in 2nd gear.

Steering response is very quick, handling is sharp, and the car feels EXTREMELY tight, a little more so than the WRX. Brakes are very grabby, more so than the WRX. It's smiles all around, except for the miniscule rear window.

I WANT THIS CAR!
After driving the Z, my WRX feels pedestrian.

it's an '04 WRX, had it since August '03.
The Z has about 70lb' more torque. That's why I think it feels faster off the line.

Hehe, exactly what I was thinking. I have a lot of friends with WRXs, and every one of them is constantly amazed at how hard the Z pulls when I let them drive it and how utterly slow it makes their own cars feel. Don't get me wrong, I love the WRX and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to people. But, it's just not nearly as fast and doesn't pull nearly as hard. However, if you modify it...

An STi is a different story. A faster, uglier story.

I thought the exhaust note was too quiet.

My brother's 2002 WRX with chip and other bolt ons pulls just as hard as my Z off the line.

I wouldn't call it slower at all. It may be faster............

If he makes it more than halfway through the quarter without shattering the transmission, that is.

I drove wrx (2001 station) more than one year. Wrx could pull just as hard as Z off the line, but up to a certain speed only.
