G'day,
First post here, must say... terrific site.
I currently own a 1998 200sx (S14) and for a while there
I wasn't sure if ther ewould be anything in Nissans lineup
to 'step upto'..
Enter the 350Z from stage left...
Well, the 350Z looks sensational, none are here in the metal
just yet, lots of Nissan enthusiasts are waiting all over the
country to get a test drive.
I'll be upgrading as soon as they arrive here, was thinking
about getting the one in black.

Hey westie,
Where in oz are you from? I'm from Wollongong, I live in Arizona USA now.
How much is the 350Z going for in oz? I heard it was like $60,000 for the base?
I love living in the US
If I were you I'd go for a R34 GTR, you could get one cheaper than a 350Z...I've seen Godzillas for 50k.
Nice to see an Aussie in here. Laters

Hi,
Melbourne, down in sunny Victoria
Seriously, it didn't rain today at all
I know a lot of fellow Australians living in the states, I've
never been there yet, wouldn't mind working over there for
a year or two to see the place.
The 350Z is going for just under 59k for the base and
65k for the Track version. Which is pretty good considering
the pacific pasos we use as currency LOL.
And you get the full deal, this isn't another (let's strip everyint
out except the seats to get it into Aus) deal, its got the
same level of equipment as the Jap spec car.
I'd LOVE an R34 GTR, but there is a long waiting list for them
here in Australia. The Grey import rules were tightened up
at the behest of the big car companies and the number of
compliance plates has been slashed, makes it harder to get
cars in (though the ones that do get in are better quality).
New Zealand is GTR country
I'd be really interested to see how the V6 in the 350Z
would handle some nice supercharging....yeah... Maybe
I'll upgrade my 200sx and get a 350Z, then go and
get it supercharged...
350kw 350Z
Nice ring to it.
-Westie.

Well you might not find an R34 GTR, but go to www.tradingpost.com.au
Click on the NSW section. In keywords, top left. Type Skyline GTR.
I haven't checked in there for like a year, so I dunno whats available now! But in the past I've seen some (what look) nice R33 R34 GTRs.
Americans don't look, you will be highly dissapointed hehe GTRs for 60kAUD (30kUSD) unheard of over here in the US.
I really like the 200SXs you know they don't have them at all in the US? they do, but not the same as the Aussie/Jap200SXs. They are crap! non-turbo, Ford Laser lookalike! check out autotrader.com (put 85259 as zip code) check out the 200SX, they are awful! SO when you say you have a 200SX, make sure you say an Aussie turbo 200SX.
And that ain't a bad price for the track! I don't thik they'll sell many base models if the track is only 6k more.

Yeah, the Australian 200sx is Jap spec, SR20DET turbo, heaps
of power.. tough as nails too.
I think the Track version will be the one that does most of the
selling, it's about 10% more but you get the body kit, SERIOUS brakes, other goodies...
Waiting for some of the local tuning shops to get hold of one and
whack on a supercharger or turbocharger set up... the motor is apparently dead tough and suprise, suprise, Japanese 350Z's are reliably cranking out insane kw's.
They'll never match a GodZilla, but that's ok...
I'm just doing the math... gonna cost a bit to lease one of these puppies...
What the heck, only live once!

synergytheory, I've only seen R33 GTRs for that price. The cheapest R34 was a stock '99 for AUD$70k, most seem to sit around AUD$80k Perhaps what you saw was an R34 GTS-T? Doesn't matter, back to the topic at hand.
Glad to see a few fellow Aussies here. Anyone know for sure a date for the 350Z to be available for test drive? I've been driving a turbo MX-5 for 8 years and it's time for a change and I think the Z is it.
BTW last I heard the Australian price hadn't been confirmed yet. I just hope they don't bump it up at the last minute, it seems like good value.

Just a quick follow up...
Dropped by a dealer today and found the following:
1. Prices have been set. Track is ~$72k on road, base was over $60k but I didn't pay that much attention as I'm after a track.
2. Orders are being taken. Non refundable $2500 deposit
3. They're due to arrive mid to late Feb. If you don't preorder one don't expect to get what you're after until April or later
Sorry if that'l all old news.
