the tire pressure monitors are sensors that are hooked into the air inlet valve stem on the tire. They are attatched/unattatched by using a tool that screws it into the valve stem. The tool is on the outside and the sensor is secured on the inside of the tire.
Whatever the case, after you remove and reinstall the tire (and or rim) you probably have to go to the dealer to have the computer re-establish itself with the sensor. That will probably be required to get it working again.
The dealer also has instructions on how to remove and reinstall on another rim if you are switching out.
Hope that helps.

If you haven't already, search for the forum for posts about this and you will find some.
From what I have read: tires are no problem. But I guess for wheels you may need to make sure that they can handle the stems that come with the stock Z (Performance/Touring/Track).
Like I said, search the forums and you will find some info about this.

this is per the service manual... but you are right... if one were to get stolen, or damaged... the dealer has the procedure to re-program a new sensor to the appropriate location.

ps.. also, txstyle had his removed and put on new rims.. no problems arose.
