Default How soon after you ordered your Z...

Did you get an estimated ship date?

My dealer told me 2-3 weeks, but most people I talk to who've ordered cars (not just Z's) said it was like 4-6 weeks.

My order was formally placed on 1/25 and was submitted with the Feb '05 orders. I was just given a ship date and vin# yesterday. Delivery is scheduled for 4/8, in two weeks.

gpslater's timeline sounds about right. If you miss the cut off for the month you can add another month to the timeline since dealers only place orders once a month.

So it sounds like you don't get the VIN # and ship date until about 2-3 weeks BEFORE you get the car, not 2-3 weeks AFTER you order it. Silly dealership.

Wow, so your order only took about two months? What'd you order?

Check my sig.

I actually negotiated the deal and left a deposit in Nov '04. But, I didn't want to take delivery until the snowy season was over. Since both the dealer and I also didn't want to have the car sitting on the lot for an extended period of time (for obvious reasons), the order was placed at a strategically appropriate time.

The Z still has to be orderered from Japan? I figured by now there would be ample Zs of all models on dealer lots. It took me 3 months after order to get mine. Ordered in 4/04

Not the '05 Tracks. There are only a handful of them in the country.

I ordered my 35th Ann. car on Jan. 18th. The paperwork that came form Nissan vehicle details says the order date was 3/1/05 with an ETA of 05/05. Not sure of when in May it will arrive or why it wasn't ordered sooner.

By ordering the car on the 18th of January, you missed the cutoff date. However, it should have been put through in February. That is weird indeed.

That's why I jumped on the first '05 Track I found! Crossed 3 states to get it.

I didn't want to order and wait. I have now clocked 3000 miles after 2 weeks with the Z.

Paid full MSRP though.

Armitage,

I was told by the dealer sometime in Feb that Nissan was stopping production of the Z for 30 days. He didn't know what the stoppage was about but it put me back a month. Thats why it didn't get ordered with Nissan until March 1st. I was kind of bumbed on that one but not much I could do.

Ahh, ok. I heard about that too but asked my dealer when I ordered it and they didn't know anything about it. Glad I just missed it then.

Why would orders stop due to low sales?

Seems like it would be the other way around (orders would stop if you were selling a lot and couldn't keep up).

I ordered my 350 ZR back in December. They told me up to 190 days, but it arrived this Wednesday and I'm picking it up tonight!

WOW, thats nutz. Glad to hear your picking it up sooner though. My dealer quoted me 60-90 days.
