G35 totaled, bought a 350Z
I have been around this site for a while and have learned a lot here. I ordered my G35C over thanksgiving weekend of 2002 and picked her up on Feb 19, 2003. Yes, I remember the exact day I picked her up and you would too if your previous car was a 96 Cavalier. It met and exceeded my expectations and I spent a decent amount of time and money to make it exactly how I wanted. Mods were Volk TE37's, Borla exhaust, Kinetix resonated test pipes, Stillen intake w/350Z tube, Tein H-Tech springs, Hotchkis sways, clear corners, Gialla grill, and some engine bay dress up.
Unfortunetaly, I was involved in a fairly serious accident 2 weeks ago and she was totaled. I was very impressed how the car held up and I walked away with just a bloody nose, courtesy of the air bag. Here is a pic, may she rest in peace:
Surprisingly enough, the insurance company cut me a rather generous check IMO, and I only lost ~3k over 2+ years and 38,000 miles. I really struggled with what to buy next, and although the G35 was a great car that I had planned to keep long term, I couldn't help but look around and see what else was out there. I had just bought a new house as well, and I decided I just didn't want to buy another 30K+ new car. That ruled out the other 2 main contenders, the STi and EVO, because I really didn't feel comfortable buying a used one. I saw there were some good deals out there on used Z's and it was a car I was fairly familiar with from being on this site and driving my brother's.
Here is the new ride, an 04 silverstone base model with ACT clutch, JWT flywheel, Tein H-Techs, Hotchkis sways, Nismo LSD:
And whats to come when I replace the other 2 damaged wheels:
I know this has been beat to death, but I will throw in my .02 comparing the G35 and 350Z. Deep down, I think I was always a Z driver trapped in a G35. I prefer the lower seating position, nimbler handling/shorter wheel base, and even some of the interior pieces like the gauges and cloth seats. The interior is certainly more plain, but it is more "sporty" and just feels right. The ride isn't that much stiffer and is perfectly fine for daily driving and I had no problem driving 6 hours from So Cal, although I do miss cruise control. Overall, I am enjoying being a 350Z owner and look forward to future mods. Have fun out there everyone, and be safe.

Yeah congrats on the Z man, sorry bout the G. At least you walked away without being hurt, that's what's important. The house looks great too, congrats on that

I would never get a 4 seater unless I had too... everyone at work drives 2 seaters.. when i still had the 4 seater I had to drive to lunch EVERY day.

When I bought my Z, I wondered if I should've looked at the G since it's a bit more practical. After hearing this, I probably would have kicked myself if I had. Although it has more cargo space, it still would have sucked in the snow. It is a gorgeous car, though. I am not a believer in 'one car does everything' anyway. That's why I bought a used Cherokee to fill the void.

Thanks for the warm re-welcome everyone, and thanks to hypeiv for the photoshop. I originally bought the wheels from shaneotool who had them on his silverstone Z, so I know its going to look good. Now I just need to find out where my car ended up and get those Brembos. I am going to try to do some 1/4 runs as well, it should be interesting to compare results.
