Default Loud, Consistent Ticking noise?

So, I mentioned on another thread that I was hearing a ticking noise coming from my Z, but I wasn't very descriptive. I think most took it as the noises you hear coming from your engine compartment after you shut the car down.

Well I heard it again last night and listened very closely this time. As soon as I open the door you can hear it coming from underneath the driver's side and it is clearly not from the engine compartment. It's quite a loud crick, or ticking noise that is usually spaced in exact intervals apart from one another. Anyone have any idea as to what this could be, and has anyone experienced this before?

Could be just the Cat cooling off. You hear it on most cars after driving hard or for a while. Or it could be a bomb!

Any thing I could do to maybe deaden this noise a little? I'm not nitpicking, I love my car, but that noise is a little annoying. Every time someone gets out of my car I have to hear ... "do you hear that".

It is totally a normal sound. I don't know of anything you can do to get rid of it. Other than removing your cat, but of course you need that for emissions and such.
I would think most people know the noise enough not to ask about it. Of course this is not just a Z thing.

I'll take you guys word for it. I must be going crazy or something ... i swear i've never heard it on any other car before. I know what the normal cooling down sounds are and this isn't one that i've heard.

Is this with the engine running or not?

If it's running, an exhaust leak could sound like a tick...otherwise, normal as stated above.
