Default A/C for the Z.....

Is it just me or does the A/C for the Z suck !

It doesn't even get that hot here in So.Cal. but it seems to me that the A/C in my POS rent-a-car Pontiac Sunfire works better than the Z.

Mine works fine. Have you taken it to the dealer?

Must be you. Living in LA, the summer heat and humidity are legendary but I had no problems at all last summer.

Ya think? Maybe I should have the A/C system inspected....

Do any of your A/C's get 'ice cold', or something close to it, when you have it on the 'coldest' settings? My A/C, even on the coldest setting, seems on the warmer side, and I only have 2,400 miles on the clock.

I too was disappointed in the A/C (living in South Florida). Takes a while to get going and you need to be cruising for it to get really cold. You'd think it'd be amazing with such a small volume of air to cool.

My Cobra Mustang was ungodly cold...compressor was bigger than the one on my house though!

If anyone else in the south thinks theirs is really cold maybe I should get mine checked out too.

I haven't looked for it yet, but most modern A/C systems have a sight glass next to or on the dryer that indicates whether the system needs filling. I'll have to check for it in the FSM.

Here's a test from the FSM that you can perform yourself with just a standard thermometer.

I have a 05 and my ac gets cold! I leave it in auto setting and it does well for me. I would definitely have it looked at by the dealer!

Mine's nice and cold. Parking in the garage or in the shade sure helps though.

Mine gets cold also. But you have to remember that the Z has a larger back window & no back seat (thus less vents for cooling) than most cars. Definitely get some window tint if you don't already. I didnt see it in your specs. The Super Blacks definitely draws more heat to the chasiss due to the color. I have the Super Black Z also w/ the black/gray leather interior. The tint (35%) works wonders in keeping the Z alot cooler here in Hotlanta!

I've come to the conclusion that my A/C is probably fine.... It's just the way it is, especially owning a SB with black interior... But still disappointing nonetheless...

My beater and the rent-a-car I'm driving right now work better at keeping me cool.... I guess it's a small price to pay for owning a 'raw' sports car....

I noticed the vents need to be adjusted just right or the a/c misses hitting me. But as far as working well, it gets to 110-120 degrees here in the Coachella Valley of So. Cal and its keeps me cool. i have noticed some hot air from the engine coming thru the firewall somewhere, but haven't tried to find out where its coming from.
