I just got an 03 myself, and the biggest thing I think you sould be concerned about is the tire feathering. I believe there were some other small issues, but nothing else that got as much attention at least in the forums. There are no recalls listed for any of the Z cars either that I am aware of. I just made sure that the owner knew about it and took it to Nissan to be repaired. I currently do not have any problems save difficulty in pumping gas quickly once the tank is about half full. This car is like having a rocket strapped to your butt!

Go to Nissan.com to see what trim level has what options. It hasn't changed.
I have an 03 and haven't had any technical issues...just minor annoyances like grease on the windows. No biggie. The "issues" seem more prone to be on earlier models but it's not like ALL 03's have tire feathering and NO 05's do. It's not like that. It's more like certain vehicles have them and others don't....some 03's are flawless while other's have issues. It just varies car by car.
Test drive and take notice of as much as you.

ok thanks a lot guys. this helps a lot. just looked around and found that the tire feathering is a pretty major thing, 6-7 page thread, and if you have aftermarket rims do they still cover this? and do they stop validating the TSB after 21K?

Main thing when test driving, if you notice a roaring sound when your slowing down. Decelerating from around 30mph-0mph is when you hear the roar, and that's the feathering issue.
I recently bought a used 2004.5 with 6,600 miles on it and it did not have the feathering issue, however, when I bought my 19" wheels & tires off of a guy on ebay, I didn't know it but they must have come off an 03 cause they roared like a son of gun after I put them on.
I took them to my tire guy and he flipped the tires and that pretty much eliminated the roar.
