Stayed with a new STi off the line, then beat him.

Fun, fun.
First, I need tires. My rears are have no tread and they are still the stock POS.
New STi...I pull up to the light...exhaust rumblin. He looks over, gives me a s h i t t y grin and I give a nod. Light turns green we take off--all mean.
Shifting through to second I thought I had him but then all his boost kicked in and he stopped me from pulling ahead. We then stayed side by side until the first turn. A sharp left that exits with a sharp right, then in to a straight. He knows the road as much as I cause he sets his car up for the turn by going into the center turn around lane! I was occupying the spot he should have legally been in.
We carve through and I see my chance to throttle down and get him. I do so and my rear end start to wag. I stay on the throttle, correcting the steering and then end up ahead as we hit the straight.
At the straight we both are full throttle but my gain through the last turn keeps me in front of him. We end up at the top of the hill at the next light.
We both nod and he goes off his way and me, my way.
We did not encounter any traffic or I would have shut it down. Remember, kill yourself or the other guy racing, not the civilians!

+1.....If I were driving the STI, Iwould have schooled you. Ive only raced one STI (It seemed to be stock) and got whooped pretty badly by it. Out of the hole, the STI is no joke man, theyre REAL quick.
When the street racing forum opens back up you guys need to go watch the videos of the STOCK Z racing a slightly modified STI (from a roll) and the Z hangs with it all the way and then the slightly modified STI races a slightly modified Z (from a roll) and the STI gets hiss azz handed to him so I'll say it again the AWD launch is their only advantage.
Oh yeah but that guy probably couldn't drive either right?

Thats my point exactly......anyone who has been in a race against an STI with a decent driver behind the wheel can vouch for how quick they actually are. Around a track, it would be a more even race, but in a straight line from a standstill they are pretty nasty. Even the regular WRXs will leave you off the line.

1) No, my Z is not sotck, check my sig.
2) His STi was stock and brand new, no plate
3) Yes I know how quick STi's are, I'm not stupid. I've always said it's a drivers race against ANY car I've run.
4) I've never been pulled on by a stock STi, ever, when doing straight line runs. So either every driver sucks or slightly modded 350z's got more punch than people give it.
5) In 3 years I've only been beaten twice on this stretch of road. All manner of cars I've run against it's always the driver.
6) The two that beat me were: A Noble M12 and, don't laugh, a new Mazda 3 with tires and lowering springs. I just couldn't pull through this one down hill turn as fast as him; I was understeering. After that I got my sway bars, and it hasn't been an issue since.

but nice kill! the point is the guy shouldnt have even tried to run you with a new motor and a car he clearly hadnt mastered yet... you gave him what he deserved.
I fully believe Mr. Q. I have run a 05 STI with downpipe/exhaust from second gear. I stayed right with him the entire time. And yes he IS a good driver. He does need a retune as he is hitting boostcut in 6th gear and sometimes 5th. So after he gets that and I get exhaust and a plenum we are going to rematch.
I do believe that his car properly tuned is faster then mine, but my car is stock.

The best way to beat them is a surprise attack when they don't expect to launch them 4s.
