HMM The vet has typicly not great american quality, to me Vetts still Belong to a much older crowd who drive too slow (they could get by witha 4cyl vet) heh

theres NOTHING ricer about a vet at all, and i never seen an asian in one for that matter .. just like pickups

Z's arnt ricer either unless you make it that way

No offence but if you dont want to be stereotype average asian..
Buy your own car that YOU like dont wear nice tan or blue pants, Dont drive a honda ! dont become a student, definatly DO NOT buy cheap looking useless "accessories" that dont fit the car....

Go with the Z because of the warranty. Any repairs that occur on the Vette will require you to pay for them.

If you care about fitting into a look, then a young asian fellow driving a vette doesnt look right, but thats just me. Then again, it seems a lot of young asian fellas drive Z's and other high powered rice rockets. I mean japanese sports cars. =)

Haha. This is ironic. I'm asian. My dad's (asian) friend has an '98 Vet Conv. with a Z06 engine and a '67 fully restored vet. My dad has had about 5 consecutive Chevy full-size pickup work trucks.

My brother has a 2000 vette. I have a 04 zr. He really likes the looks of my roadster. Thinks it has a strong look to it. The two cars IMO are really different animals. Different style, different feel inside the cabin.

I have to admit, his car is truly sharp. Magnetic red with tan interior.

Don't know if this helps.

The ZR just seems to suits my personality better.

I love the ZR. Think I personally would get a new Z before a 2000 Vette.

Good luck with either choice.

Post the same question on a Vette forum and I bet you get completely different answers.

Drive them both and buy the one that you like the most ... if you can afford the insurance. Corvettes tend to be less reliable and a lot more expensive to fix. That said, the new 2006 Corvette convertible seems to be a great car and I would have bought one except that I refuse to pay over list for a car. So I sold my SL Convertible and bought a Z Roadster!!!!

If you don't want to be stereotyped, then just refuse to be stereotyped or fall prey to stereotypes. Be yourself. Respect everyone, even the janitor that cleans your school.

These are both very fast cars and you can get yourself into a lot of trouble if you don't have a lot of self control. I certainly did not when I was in school and lost my license for road racing, multi cop takedowns and the whole bit. It is the same with bikes. Don't buy some monster road bike until you can handle a smaller bike. It doesn't hurt to slam your helmet into the concrete or hit a freeway guardrail in a car. This proves you are mortal and tends to slow you down so you can live and do something useful with your life

Personally the C5 is too big. It felt like this behemoth when I was driving it.

The *** is too big and hangs out too much when pushing it in the twisties. I really like the tight package the Z offers and I think the Z looks about 500 times better.

But that's just me.
Oh yeah, the Vette still has leaf springs for godsake! Forgot about that! LEAF SPRINGS!

From a 56 year old guy whose dream car was the corvette and who researched both cars to death, I say get the Z. If you do your research you will find that you don't want a corvette before 20002. They made vast improvements that year. I drove the new 2005 and its a great car, but with a big price difference. I ended up with the 2004 Z Performance and absolutely love the car and all of my Corvette dreams have vanished into thin air......

Really? I grew up in houston but now live in the dallas area and I thought houston didn't have many vettes. I lived on the west side around memorial city mall and I always saw BMW's and Benz's and rarly any expensive domestics. Now that I am in dallas I rarely see nice BMW's and Benz's compared to the number of Caddys I see. And don't even get me started on the number of vettes I see around here. I never thought vettes were that common in houston when I lived there.

Like I said in my first post its really a different car so I still think you should test drive both but for me I am glad I got the Z b/c its much less common than the vette where I live. I went with the Z over the G for several reasons one being its more flashy (to me that is... I have nothing but love for G's) and I do get attention in it that I don't think I would get if I drove a vette (but I really don't know).

Honestly when I bought my Z I couldn't even tell you what the 1/4 mile and 0-60 times were. While doing research for cars I looked at features and price and how the car looked. Test driving the Z/G I could tell it was faster than my old car and thats about all I cared about. So for me the speed difference on the vette wasn't that big of a deal, if it is for you then you should get the car you will be the most happy with. My requirements for a car were it needed to be white, have HID's, be reliable, and be faster than my old car (not too hard it ran 16.5 1/4 MAYBE). Vette has no HID's and since I had messed up priorities that was a deal breaker.

Luckily, I don't have to make that choice. 50th Anniversary with 5K miles, got a great deal on it. Didn't Zell out, didn't even think about parting with the Z. The Z gives you much more practicality than the Vette. Believe me, if this is your everyday car, the Vette will bug you. Test drive both, but I would not touch any sports car used unless very low mileage and great condition. Good Luck on your choice!!

Yeah but the Vette stock will probably outhandlinge the Z stock. And the leaf spring setup isn't a fair comparison. It was explained to me once that the leaf springs are set up differently and allow the Vette to sit lower and have wider tires in the rear without sacrificing handling.
