wat up everybody

my names dan im 17 i live in jersey, i currentyl drive a 2002 325xi, and im interested in getting myself a 350Z for my 18th birthday, ive done some of research and its basically gonna be a straight up trade for the Z plus about 1G for taxes and whatnot, so im psyched. im looking at a 2003 White 350Z but i dont know exactly what package to get, i live in jersey so we do get some snow,i dont know how well the Zs do in snow but this car would be a daily driver. any imput would be awesome

i got my flame suit on for being 17 and having a bmw but in my defense id just like to say that it is MINE i bought it with MY money, my grandfather passed some time ago and left some money so with part of it i sold my mustnag and bought a bmw, but its hella slow so im looking at the Z

EDIT: i also hold a part time job at the local outlets

You a big fan of GM synchromesh. 350Zs are not known to have the best synchros in the world or the best setup for the snow. Most guys get a set of winter wheels/tires. I would recommend an Enthusiast or Performance package because cruise control, HIDs, and LSD are nice and I don't need leather or navigation in my sports car and the Track is hard to find.

Noboby here will flame you for being 17 and driving a nice car. You're just one of hundreds on this site. People WILL flame you for a) making such a point of your age, when it really has no bearing on your question (other than to brag that you're 17 with a nice car and getting another nice car), and b) feeling that you need to justify your nice car by telling us that you paid for it. Nodoby cares about your age or who paid for your car. Would your questions be any different if you were 37 or if your parents paid for your bimmer? Nope, then don't bring these things up. It will save you a LOT of pain here on the forum.

I'm not flaming you at all, I just wanted to let you know that you are the 12,419th poster who started with "Hi, I'm 17...". People just don't care.

As for your question about the CAR...I recommend you get a Performance or better. This car without at LEAST TCS, and preferrably VDC would suck in the winter time. The Z is a high-torque, high-power car that can bite you in the @ss in a hurry if you're not careful. Even more so in the wet or the snow.

Be careful with 'er, and good luck in your search.

+1 on at least a performance. Make sure to inspect it very well. 03's had the most problems as far as tire feathering goes.

You want to check the inside ware on the tires and look for any irregularities. Or, if you hear a loud type of growl from the tires while driving it. Over all IMO you're better off with an '04. You're also gonna get further with your cash if you sell the bimmer outright and then use that cash for the Z. You'll get more than a trade-in.

Selling the car to a private owner rather than trading it in to a dealer will net you more money in the sale. Dealers will usually try to pay the "wholesale value" of a car when they take a trade-in. A private buyer will pay the 'retail' price which is considerably more. It just depends on whether the difference is enough for you to worry about and whether the timing of having to sell your car and then find and buy the new one is feasible for you.

I'm 25

i buy ALL my own groceries with MY own money. All by myself. No one helps me pay for them or even help me take them ALL out to my car.

My daddy is very proud of me for working so hard to earn my own money to pay for them all by myself. My mommy brags to her friends about my responsible I am because I earn my own money and deserve to buy some really nice groceries.

uh oh yeah, and I like tacos....
