n00b question - Cost to get a few runs in at a drag strip?
n00b question here guys - on average, how much does it cost to get a few runs in at the local strip? How many runs do they let you have? So you and another car race down the strip and head back and wait your turn again or something? What do you do when you wait? As you can see, I've never been to a strip before and want to see what I can do in the 1/4 mile. Thanks for the patience guys!

dependend on the track. Most tracks out here charge $20 and depending on how many cars show you get between 4 to 10 runs.
In between runs you socialize, read a book or whatever you like
It's a lot of fun you should try it, but be careful it's addicting

i realized ... something funny
for the amount of "track time" you get compared with the "minimal" amount you pay is actually greater than sex...
say you get 4 runs @ 15 seconds per run(say your not the greatest dragster in the world to get into 14s), thats a total of 1 minute for 20 dollars, times 60 (an hour) = $1200...
Hiring an escort is $300 an hour...
Just an interesting FYI

Generally, first time racers will run test & tune. About $25. Test & tune is not a competitive race, but practice. You may run in a specific class such as Pure Street or Modified Street depending or your set up. The classes prevent a 14 second and 11 second car from racing at the same time. This could be a bit dangerous. Depending on how crowded the track is, you could run 4 to 10 times in a day. What do you do when you’re NOT racing? Eat horrible snack bar food. Take a helmet. Have fun.

Thanks for the replies guys. So from the concensus, it looks like you pay for time at the drag strip and NOT number of runs? How long do they let you stay? Also, what's a good day/night to go where there wouldn't be too many cars? Usually on weekdays I'm assuming? Thanks!

Just imagine...
four hours of no-string attached banging or one hour of burning rubber and tearing up drivetrain...
