I actually had my car "protech"-ed, it's a special kind of wax, which is not a wax, so you can use anti-grease cleaning product and it wont come off, i have a 5 year guarantee on it that it stays on the car, and it looks awesome!
we had alll our cars treated with it, and the paint does not swirl, it protects agains bird poo and even rock chips up to a certain level... definitly worth the 800 euro's
The dirt glides right of it...

Mullholland-
I always used a random orbital buffer on my black cars. always using new applicators and the proper amount of wax it is much easier and gives a better shine than doing it by hand......

I agree ^^^^ See my previous post in this thread and visit the web sight = great info and pics of what a random orbital polisher can do = I use one weekly on my black Z with no problems!

hmm, i think black cars just come from the factory with swirls.........
a lot of it is caused by the idiots they have cleaning the cars when they get off the truck at the dealer

I WAS waxing my car with Meguires, and I noticed that the hood and roof started to get "foggy".
Last night, I washed the Z with Dawn, then I used the Porter-Cable with some 3M swirl remover (for dark cars). I was careful to use very light pressure. I only did the hood.
After washing the Z again (to remove all the polishing compound), I took my brand new Zaino clay bar and cleaned a small area of the hood. I washed it (again) and put one coat of #5 Zaino on it (small area - as a test).
Well, the very small area that I tested looked pretty good. No more fog, and under close scrutiny, I really don't think I could do much better.....definately a mirror finish. << very happy >>
I can't wait to finish the whole car.

I love black cars. I thought about getting a SS or a CS Z but in the end, I saw the black one in the showroom and I couldn't get a different color. I was it and detail it carefully every other week. If it picks up a particularly large amount of crap during the first week I'll wash it then too. I've had it for about 7 months and I have about 7 or 8 layers of Zaino on it. I put on 3 layers of Zaino the first weekend, another 2 a month later and didn't touch it for 4 months and it still looked great after a wash and detail spray. Last month I started zainoing again w/ z-5 to help hide the swirls and I'll probably put on 1 more z-5 and then a z-2 this weekend and i'll probably be good for several months again.
Bottom line is that the paint on Nissan's sucks. I'm getting lots of chips in the front bumper and every time a bird poops on the car it leaves a mark, no matter how fast I clean it off. I also have little itty bitty white specs embedded in the paint now. I'm going to claybar it in a month or two w/ hopes of pulling those out.
HOWEVER, the car looks sick, when it's clean.

This is my first Black car, and I've heard many stories before about'em...and they are all TRUE. =( Although Black is a nice color, but man "why do the dirt and dust come back so soon?" The California duster was recommened to me by my pops. It's really a good weapon to fight the dust, but I have to use it everyday, EVERDAY!!! "I shoulda went with Pikes Peak."

My 2000 Lightning was black and it caused me 4 1/2 years of car-care grief. I could wash and wax it and an hour later it was dirty again. Even while it was sitting under my car-port, it would still attract dirt and dust like a drunken derelict.

My Maxima is the same super black.
the bird crap marks are such a pain in the ***...
I wouldn't choose any other color over black though, it just looks fantastic. Even when it's a little bit dirty, it still looks great in my eyes. You do have to be diligent about washing it though.

I carry Micro Fiber towels for finger prints and blemishes. You can purchase them at any auto store. Black is the color I love most the color I hate most, speaking of only Z colors that is.
