after about 18K miles I started to grind gears everytime I shifted into 2rd and 3rd After installing a new tranny I've yet to grind a gear.

bottom line if you're grinding gears TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP and let them grind gears.

BTW mine was REALLY BAD within the first 10-15 mins of driving. Once the tranny fully heated up the grinds went away.

So I had to park the car near the dealership then drive it over once it cooled down. After they shifted the car once the guy said ok Ill order you a new one.

Whats weird, I have the well known 1st to 2nd gear "grind" (can't even call it a real grind, it's just hard to go in and notchy) for the first 1-2 shift after sitting over night. Ok so a few days ago, I went to the track, I grind 2nd for the first time ever.... then it starts doing it a bit much, going into 2nd hard it grinds... and I could swear it's not on my end.

heh... looks like most of u are talking about problems w/ the tranny, im just wondering about how often you "accidentally" grind... like when u dont press down on the clutch enough and tr yto shift into gear...

anyways... how bad is this for the car? hahah... this happening ONCE to my car seems so bad to me, i think its just cuz grinding sounds so nasty.

Once... 1-2 at WOT... very embarissing...

Some hick riding in a rusty Toyota beside me came up with the line "Change gears much?". I look at him and start laughing... "Did you come up with that all by yourself?" Then proceed to burnout cuz I'm pissed at myself anyways and leave them in the smoke...

3 or 4 times.. always when I didn't push the clutch in fully. And it was always going into 3rd gear...

I have an 03, so I am worried that if I grind accidently a few times that it will start doing it all the time. I have 29K on the car.. should I still be worried that the tranny will go, or am I good?

i don't get how you can really grind gears in the Z. The clutch point is so high that you can barely press it and shift fine.

I grinded and stalled in the same day like 2 days ago for the first time in like 6 months. Some times i get lazy or just not paying attention and just jack up. It was like the first time ive stalled in soo long, i usually grind on accident like 1 time every 3 months or so, sometimes i just dont push the gear in all the way cuz ill shift the **** with fingertips or something like that.

Ive been close to stalling before but im usually pretty fast on the cluth so ill catch it.
