Is it possible my car already had the Bose fix?
Picked up my touring last week..... my Bose system sounds really good to me? None of the problems I've heard, its exactly what I would expect when forking over $$ for a 7 speaker Bose system with 10" sub? It pumps, its tight, bass sounds deep and clean....
I'm no audiophile, but I know when something doesn't sound like it should - and this sounds good!
Anyone have any idea if it could have had a fix already?
The general manager said he would look into it, that it was possible it had the fix...... anyone know?

Please search for Bose TSB. You'll find a copy of the actual Nissan TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) covering this item, including which cars are affected.
Ok, I'll do the search for you. TSB Search

The TSB shows which vin numbers are affected.
If the dealer "doesn't know if they replaced it or not", the only other way to tell is to look at the amp.
I'm having second thoughts about changing it. Been hearing a lot of post about people losing their bass completely. Guess it would depend on the quality of the technicians.
The bass is heavy on mine. It seems to be OK with a bass setting of -5.
Guess I will give it a few more weeks then decide.

Do me a favor?
NYCZ,
According to the TSB, I have the new amp in my Touring Z, but I'm not getting any bass out of the two rear speakers (not including the sub) while the car is parked.
Could you do me a favor, please?
[With the car parked.]
Set your BASS to +5 and your TREBLE to 0. With your volume set to about 15-20, set your FADER to +5 (front) and listen to/"feel" for the bass coming from the two front door speakers close to the floor. Now, set the FADER to -5 (rear) and listen to/"feel" for the bass coming from the two rear speakers. Do they sound/"feel" the same?
My front speakers produce the high-frequency bass (as they should), but my rear speakers do not. The sub handles just about all the bass (high and low frequencies) in the rear, but that's not right (should only handle the low frequencies). I'm wondering if I need to have my system checked out, even though it has the new amp.
Thanks,
Dan

Keep in mind that the rear 6 1/2" speakers are 32 ohm, I believe, and because of this, will "sound" quieter than a pair of 4 ohm speakers, if I remember my electrical engineering classes. As is the case lately though, I'm most likely wrong about some part of this.
Nonetheless, it's generally preferrable to have the sound stage more focused in the front. Rear speakers only give a false impression of "rounded-out" sound. As long as the sub is working, I would think that with proper fade/balance control, that you could find a level acceptable to you.
