Default How to ruin a nice drive

So me and the wife take the Z out for a nice Sunday drive the weather being in the mid-90's with a bit of a breeze. We're driving the speed limit of 50 mph down our favorite back road when I see Bubba and Gomer in their pickup coming toward our road really fast.

They've got a stop sign but they're going way too fast. I slow down to 40 and estimate they're doing about 60 on their road that's posted 35. Sure enough they come to the T intersection and blow through the stop sign at about 20 miles an hour. I nail the Brembos and stop short as they flip me off I lay on the horn. Gomer is waving a brown beer bottle out the passengers window like he's going to throw it.

Damn, I should have hit them.

I came to a tactical stop about fifty feet behind them to get a better look at the **** wipe. He too comes to a stop this time in the middle of the road. He slams it into reverse, punches it, and spins up his tires ... OK the race is on. As he comes at me backwards he swirves his truck back into the other lane ... where cars are now coming at him for a head on collision. I get into second gear by the time the other cars have started honking at him and coming to a stop in their lane.

Bubba stops, puts it into forward and does a 180 to follow me. I've got three passengers in my Z - my wife and my two best friends Smith & Wesson. So I'm about half a mile in front of the guy so I make a quick turn and take off toward the right. I get to the top of the overpass and Bubba and Gomer are still coming after me.

So I make another right and have to make the choice. I take the easy way out rather than brandish and possibly kill both the likely drunken or methed out rednecks and continue another 3/4 of a mile while watching the speed. I make a turn into a really tight loop and watch Bubba stop before the loop. I drive up to the Air Force gate guard and wait for Bubba to follow. He decided to give up the chase.

While visiting the base I took a couple of pictures.

unbelievable, why are there so many road rage stories involving rednecks this week?
They are coming out like locusts in my town too, glad it's not just me.

Glad they didnt hit your Z. God, thanks for reminding me how much I hate rednecks. Hopefully they will pull in front of a freight train or something

Isn't it illegal to bring a firearm on base?

Sounds to me like the guy deserved to be shot

I had a similar situation in my life. a drunk guy t-boned me at the intersection. He had a stop sign, never stopped and he was going like 40 mph. My car was totaled...and i had a few bruises. the guy escaped, left his car and reported it stolen. I didnt have the opportunity to stop like you cause i didnt see him.

Although I try to deal with life without calling the police, this is a case of reporting the driving activity via cell 911 with the dupa's plate number. They are risking lifes left and right without a care.

Nice pic of the F4 and your ride's nose... Hope the return back was better...
Would have been cool getting a shot of Bubba and Gomer in action...

Heck no! But since it's not a drill weekend and it was hotter than heck the air police were safe and sound inside their air conditioned bunker. If they were doing searches I would have just pointed out Bubba's truck and took my chances.

yikes.... reminds me of when i ran into some rednecks a couple of months ago. not nearly as bad of an experience as you, but amusing to say the least. i made a thread about it over at my regional forum when it happened

May be calling them red necks was a bitharsh. They both had long hair, and only the passenger was drinking a beer, and the pickup truck still had at least two functional gears on it.

That's the good thing about the 350Z. Being a two seater, easy acess to the baretta in case a fool wants to try something (APPLICABLE to only those who have a carrying permit)

Throwing a roll of nickels at their car is almost as good. Just make sure it's a car you can outrun so they dont get your plates

Moreno Valley, huh, that can be a crazy area, many convenience store robberies and mucho gang problems. I used to have to do business, at times, in the area - good place to be shot. Also, good place to spot mullets-galore.
