Ugg... Girlfriend Factor?
The chance of me getting a Z within a month or two is looking good. My girlfriend and I were discussing color options. I told her I wanted to go with the Daytona Blue. She said, "hmmm, its all right". We have seen the Daytona Blue both in pictures on this website and up and close at a dealership and car show. I then asked, well what about red. She thinks the red is "too girly". She wanted me to go with the Black, Chrome Silver, or Silverstone. I do like those colors to but they are common, I only see a Daytona Blue around here once in a while and that's the color I love. She thinks if I get the car and get it in Blue, I will get sick of the color after a while and wants me to go with a "safer color" If only Liquid Aluminum was still avaliable and not a bagillion dollar paint option! Anyways guys and gals, what do you think, what would you do? Has anyone infulencd your choice of color? Have you ever wish you chose another color after you bought your Z?
Unless she`s your wife, she has no say. Your money, your car. The Z will be there for you long after your girlfriend is gone, remember that
If you`re set on daytona blue, get daytona blue. My choice would be red or silverstone, but to each their own.

Whose paying? If you, its your color choice.
If you want blue, blue it is.
I've been married for 32 years. When I decided on the Zzzz, I fell in love with the Brickyard. I did not consult my wife; I have the Brick.
Generally, we do consult on major purchases, etc. But this was my buggy.

Since I have CS, I have to say your girlfriend has good taste, but I suggest you stick with your instinct.
In 2003, DB was once my favorite Z color too, but now her three choices look far better to me.
Good luck, Mr Blue!

Unless you're easily annoyed by the swirl marks that are apparent in a darker car (many threads I've seen here) and don't like to clean than any color is fine!
EVERYONE is going to stand by their color like it was inherited to them.
There is a reason why certain colors are common but the truth is: every color looks really great on the Z. It depends on what you're going for. Let me break it down on the colors you mentioned.
Super Black:
Mean yet classy
Color will age well.
Looks hot when clean but takes more effort
hides the lines a little
makes the Z look a little smaller
does not take well to nicks and dings (noticeable)
goes well with almost any color aftermarket wheel (gold, gunmetal, silver, black)
Easy to color match aftermarket body parts.
Chrome Silver:
Classic and neutral
easier to keep clean hides dust well
shows all the Z's lines beautifully
looks a tad bigger because it's brighter
matches a little better with doorhandles
Does not go that well with gold wheels.
Silverstone:
(same as chromesilver attributes)
a little darker and stealthier.
compromise between black and silver.
Chameleon characteristics...metallic in sunlight, darker in the afternoon and night.
You keep it dirty for weeks! flakes in color still brings out shine.
Hard to color match
Does not go too well with gold wheels.
Daytona Blue:
Loud color (head turner)
hard to be incognito
distincitve
sporty look
goes well with almost any color aftermarket wheel (gold, gunmetal, silver, black)
Might grow to be more ostentatious than actual car
Redline:
(same attributes as Daytona)
classic sports car color

Go with the color YOU really want. Cause if you dont you will regret it.
But as a DB owner... go with the DB :P.
Oh and dont let your GF tell you what color to get.. Only way she would have a say if she was paying for the car or atleast half of it. Tell her if she doesnt shut up about color choices, you will stiffen the springs and make the car ride rougher

Nothing like a little head jerk to put a passenger in check!
Have a close look at the blue and red....when the z first came out I noticed early versions had problems, the gas cover and bumpers did not always match the rest of the car.
Mine is silverstone, got it cause silver can be too bright in sunlight - above post on breakdown of colours was bang on in my opinion.
Also, think about how you will feel about the colour a year to two down the road - a friend with a yellow s2k loved it at first, not so much anymore!
get what YOU want, in the end it is you that lives with the car, drives the car, washes, waxes....and PAYS for the car.

Like others said, get the color that you will like for years to come. When I asked around I got all kinds of opinions, I stuck to my choice, I am happy that I did. Now I dont have to ever think when I drive her that I wanted to get a different color.

Until they go after you for whiplash. 1 year since it happened and it's still up in the air although I think I'll win.
Oh ya... +1 for getting the colour YOU want.
Thanks 35oZephyR for the write up on colors and the rest of your comments guys/gals. About the comment with the yellow S2K and your buddy getting sick of it after a while, that's what I fear might happen with the Daytona Blue. I know people stick by their colors but to you guys with the redline, ultra yellow, or daytona blue, ever get sick of your color? Is it just too "loud" after a while?
I've had my DB Roadster for a year and a half now, and I don't think that I'll ever get tired of the color. It was my favorite by far and it attracts a lot of attention. I use Maguire's, and use a cleaner before I use the wax, and I haven't had any problems with swirls. If you like the blue, get the blue. That's why they make so many colors, every one has different likes & dislikes.
