I determined right away from what I have read on the various forums shortly after I got my Z two years ago that FI was the only way to power up the Z with any type of cost/hp ratio that made sense. People have dumped tons of cash into headers/intakes/cams etc with minimal hp gains. Now with the UTEC out, perhaps those people can see some benefit from those mods.

Question though: If some people are just looking for a "quicker" Z N/A Bolt-on are a good route. Don't you agree?

I regret:
- spending enough on NA to have gone F1 and ending up with 247 at the wheels >:0
-over-spending on my system install and not doing it right the first time.
-buying/installing cheap CF hood
-Getting jerked by 2 body shops
Lessons learned: learn how to do it yourself, research, and have patience...
I always said I was going to do it right the first time and yet I have plenty of regrets. Still love the Z though =)

Does anyone regret the 3.9 final drive mod? What a great thread.

An absolute .. NO ! No regrets. ... if you intend to stay N/A.

However, F/I is another story .. if that is your goal -- then the 3.9 should not be on the card of options.

This is true...nice mod, but with high flow cats, Y-Pipe & a nice exhaust you free up so much there is no need for headers. This will not be on my list to be done.

EDFC unit for Tein Flex. Although Tein Flex shocks have resolution (16 levels) but they do not have enough range to make the EDFC feel useful to me. Perhaps my ability to sense car dynamic response or road bumps are poor.

Regrets:

1) MOMO shift ****. Biggest POS ever, won't stay screwed on tight for long.
2) Hawk HPS brake pads without resurfacing the rotors. I bedded them in, but they just didn't have the performance I was looking for (only worked well while hot). I love the axxis ultimates that I have on now with the stoptech stage 2 kit.
3) Not waiting for 06.
4) Going for touring over track trim.

Did not regret:

1) Volks
2) Hotchkis
3) BFG
4) Reading up before I tried to get N/A gains through intake and expensive exhaust mods

I regret getting 3"inch exhaust system. It's to freak'n loud.=/ But it's gotta be done. Good thing about 3" it helps alot. I can actually feel the difference. And i want brembo's =/ when i got my Sb 04 Roadster it didn't come with it. Now i regret not buying it at the time of getting the car. My F/I Z is killing my stock brakes =/

Cool

Regrets:
Sometimes I regret not getting a 6MT, but then when I'm stuck in Houston traffic with my bad left foot I am SO thankful I got the 5AT.

Do not regret:

* My Motordyne 5/16" Plenum Spacer and Iso-Thermal Gasket Kit. Great mod for the $$$, easy to install, and the car now sounds like it enjoys running above 5500 rpm instead of sounding like an industrial motor. I can easily feel the power increase from 3000 rpm up, and the car is much more fun to drive in the upper rpm range now.

* Hawk HPS pads. Others complain, but I sanded the rotors well and installed the pads correctly; plenty of bite, better overall pedal modulation, and NO DUST!

So the engine doesn't sound like it's having a baby at the top RPM's with the motordyne?

Sometimes I'm pushing her and I get nervous because it screams violently at the top RPM's.

How'd you sand your rotors exactly?
