just buy a little 2wd pickup.
I was just shopping for one for a friend and there are PLENTY of $2K-$3K decent S10s/Rangers/B3000s out there with less than 100K miles.

yeah you can pick up a beater used 2WD Tacoma for dirt cheap...they're a dime a dozen these days and shouldn't cost you more than say 2-3K
