Slight dilema...

Hopefully I won't get flamed for this, but I just spoke with my local Infiniti dealer and he has G35c in the set up I want (the same as the Z I have a deposit on) available with a guaranteed delivery of first week in November. Price is almost the same (the G is $300 less). I am one of those guys who wants an AT as I drive about 4-5k miles a month and a clutch would kill me doing that all the time. Also, the Infiniti comes with 2 year service included.
They are both beautiful cars and for most part, they are very identical (at leats to the average driver). I will never be racing the Z or the G. I will never take my car to a track. Thus the slight difference in weight and HP isn't that big of deal, plus with an AT, I doubt there would be much of a difference anyway.
The thing is, since I missed the Z pre-order program by 3 weeks, God only knows when my Z will get here, but with the G, I would know exactaly when it is going to arrive.
So, please don't kill me as I would love either car, but this is a big decision and I would appreciate some thoughtful input from you guys and gals. Thanks!

You're decision is cool, but the entire thing abuot the clutch is wrong, you don't need to change a clutch that much. Maybe once in a cars entire lifetime. And the Z does come in auto, you could get the enth model with auto and no options for abuot 29,500+Tax+tags..ect ect. AND... you don't need to pre-order, you can take over cancellations.. usally everydealership will have atleast 1 cancellation. It's easy to sign a paper for it, hard to push over 30,000 dollars. But the G35C is very nice by what I hear. Advantages of that is it's slighty more luxurious, and it's 4-5seater, bigger trunk space. Other than that its the same. I hope you like the G..make sure you write a review of it!

Luxury: G35C would win since it will ride on a softer suspension and comes with sunroof as an option. It also has 4 seats though the back seat will probably be limited.
Performance: Z will be better due to its firmer set up and it will probably be about .3 to .5 second quicker to 60mph.
Looks: Your call. personally I din't like the G35C because
1. Z has a lower stance.
2. Z butt looks nicer and wider when you compare them side by side.
Conclusion: You want more luxury, get the G, want more performance, get the Z.
Happy hunting!

I didn't mean changing the clutch out with wear and tear of use, I was talking about wear and tear on my leg.
I am attached to the Z mainly through this sight and all I've learned about the car, but I have never been a patient person, and having no idea when mine would come in isn't very heartening.
I'm still undecided though...

Another thing you might want to consider is, the G35C is very nice, but it won't "stand out" very much. You won't get as many head turns on a G compared to a Z. So if you like the attention, I'd say Z. If you want luxury and space, I say go for the G.
And patience wise, it's true its hard to wait, but when you get it, it's ALL worth it. Just put it in the back of your mind. The G is still 2 months away almost. Little less.. you could find a cancellation and buy a Z onthe spot.. who knows! Goodluck with your decision though!
Originally, I was mainly looking at the G35 Coupe. I really wanted to be able to seat more than just two, so thats pretty much what sold me on it. But then that one picture surfaced around the net of the white G35 Coupe next to a white 350Z. To me, the Z looked so much better. The back of the G looked too bloated, and the distance from the back wheel to the end of the front door just didn't look right to me. But regardless, I still think it will be a great car, so its really just a personal preference.

I think the choice between a Z and a G35C is a very personal one. I have the Z on order with an automatic. I ordered before I knew anything about the G35C. I am replacing a 1985 Supra which has the +2 seating with fairly luxurious appointments. I have never had anyone in the back seats of the Supra. They are too small to be of much use, but they do fold down and give me enough room to carry a bicycle inside the hatchback.
I have considered the G35C for all of the reasons outlined in the other posts on this thread. I decided to keep the Z, but understand why someone else could make the opposite decision. They are both going to be great cars. Chose one and good luck with whatever you decide to buy
